Why Park In Reverse?
For reasons unknown to me, the driver's manual specifically says to park in reverse, which I have been doing because the driver's manual says so, but in my former manual cars I always used to park in 1st.
Does it really make a difference? I'm guessing it does (somehow) since GM decided to be specific about it. Why does GM say park in reverse as opposed to 1st gear? What gear do you park in and why?

Yea like he said I leave it in neutral with the ebrake on unless I am parking on a hill. I forget it's in gear and stall it. BUT if you want to leave it in gear it doesn't matter which.

I've always left it in first, just habit cause that's what I've done in my other cars. Never noticed that the manual specifically says reverse...

Park in first when I back into a spot, reverse when I pull head on into a spot.
I never park in neutral. The parking brake is not nearly as strong as your engine compression in first gear or reverse. |

I've parked with the ebrake on and in 1st gear for 14 years.

Just made me wonder why GM felt the need to be specific to "reverse". In other words, in the mind of GM, why would they make that distinction if it doesn't really matter, you know? Is there a reason?
Also, when parking on inclines it seems kind of counterintuitive to park in reverse when facing uphill, and vice versa. Nevertheless, I now find myself in the habit of parking in reverse now because of GMs specific directive and my own ignorance as to how it all works.
