I think the GT350 will be the winner in the first battle on price alone. But we will have to see what Chevy does with a track dedicated car for the new design, since the Z/28 will no longer be in production for 2016. Ford got caught a little off guard when the Z/28 came out, so their answer is a bit late to the party. With the other battle SS vs. GT, the Chevy is going to win that one hands down (subjective opinions about the looks aside). The SS will be around the same weight or so, but the LT1 blows away the Coyote, the 8 spd auto is faster, no MRC in the Mustang, etc...
I'm thinking that on some tracks the gen6 with MR will give the non R gt350 a run for its money. I don't believe it will win (at least on paper) but it should be close. That's just my guest on why people keep comparing the two.

Quoted the wrong post I guess. It was in response to "the LT-1 falls on its face after 5600rpm".

Remember most bolt on LS3 cars are well over 400-rwhp and struggle to hit 113-114 mph. The new ScatPacks are all 430+rwhp and event higher torque ratings. So is Dodge under-rating or is Chevy over rating?

Nice, that's one example. Most Stingrays dyno around 415whp.

And do you really think that with the new A8 Stingray, which has done passes ranging from 122-124mph, the Gen6 can't do 119? I did not say on average, so don't twist my words. I said for a hero run, since that's what everyone is quoting for other cars like the 392's 12.2.

I've said over and over, good time will be around 12.2 or 12.3, around 116. A good time, good air. I believe the record for a stock gen 6 will be in the 11's, near 120 (which means 119).

When should expect to hear news on any Z/28 or ZL1?

You can find many examples of bone stock C7 auto cars making between 395-415RWHP. You can also find that the engine responds very well to mods. 20-30RWHP gains from a tune or 30-40RWHP gains from a flex fuel E85 tune. 25-35RWHP from LT headers before tuning. DI, VVT and high compression make for some impressive gains with bolt ons.

Twist it anyway you want to you will not see 120-mph out of a bone stock SS. Sure you will have the guy out there with hidden tune and weight reduction claiming the car is stock, but true stock it's never going to happen. The car will most likely see 113-115 mph which is very good.

In regards to the 415 rwhp, what makes you think that this number is going to gain all this mph over a 5th gen with headers and tune which makes the same? In SS form I bet you will only see 390-400 rwhp.

A8 helped a few tenths and few mph over the A6 in the Stingray, which is all we have to go on for now. That and the 200ish lbs it lost. Those drivetrain mods don't show up in the WHP so much (except that the A8 probably has less drivetrain loss)

Plus, like the 6.4 vs the 6.1, a lot of the power gains were focused on power under the curve, it's much more of a low rpm torque motor. My LS2's and L76 were not real strong down low in my opinion. I'm looking for a change in that.

Agree to disagree I guess. I think we will see 119 for a stock record run.

Maybe but doubtful. There was alot of hope that the addition of the new A8 in the Challenger 392 was going to add big mph, but even with the a 15-hp bump in power the A8 version only gained about 1-mph, over the 14s, although it does have quicker e/ts.

Thumbs down

Dodge besides their great Viper has not been able to provide any sport car that could have a good handling suspension, just are strong for straight line driving. The '15 Mustang GT is very heavy and it's suspension is just SO-SO not even able to beat the prior 1LE. Probably the GT350 will give a stronger fight to the Camaro, but just because of GM's mistake of sharing their MRC suspension technology to FORD.

GM did not give any tech to Ford. GM does not own the MRC tech they employ on their cars, they license it, just as Ford and others do.

Cadillac invented MRC. Auto makers like Ferrari and junk ford who can't even build a good trans lisences the technology from GM.
