Where do rivets go in to body for side skirts?

So this is more of a question on accepting what I will be doing soon. My car gets mud slung up on the stock lower side panels. Do the rivets go into the lower section of the painted part of the body? I attached a random picture of a car and circled the area where I assume the rivets will go. Is this the correct location that I will have to drill holes into? I currently have the lower rocker panel area covered in PPF so I will have to drill through that also. I have been looking at the ACS ZL1 STYLE SIDE ROCKERS, 1LE BLACK which should assist with the mud and debris slinging up on the the side of the car. Can anyone recommend some good drill bits to use to smoothly go through the panel. TIA.

yes some will go in that slopped downward part and the rest go under the car.
Any drill bit will work fine. I just used my harbor freight kit and just barely pulled the trigger on the gun and it drills right in. Just dont go full speed or it will pull it in to fast.

I just got the ACS 1LE and if you buy them make sure you look them over. Mine where all scuffed up and scratched up. you cannot properly polish them or you will ruin the 1LE paint as per what ACS told me but they dont seem to care that they are all scratched up or scuffed all over for an $800 part.

That's unfortunate. I installed ACS ZL1 Style 1LE Side Skirts today and there were fine. But your advice about drill slowly is spot on! I'll post pictures soon.

OK look at LAST PIC in POST 78 on the page below. Those have held those EOS skirts on even after a 100MPH off track excursion. Those ARE NOT coming off. I have a rivet about every six inches. Just use a new drill bit and you will be good, you are basically drilling through plastic.

I also have the ACS Composite side skirts. Just use a quality drill bit and you shouldn't have any problems.

Agreed. I have the ACS side skirts as well. And take your time in positioning the side skirts before drilling. Make sure they are exactly where you want them before you start drilling.

Agreed... you can also buy additional black pop rivets if you want extra support. (you can use plastic clamps to hold the skirt in place while you drill the holes if you doing this yourself)
The ACS splitter and rock guards are nice too...

You may have misunderstood me. When did they come out with these ? Why? Etc? Was this an additional option. What do the first gen side skirts look like?
