Borla Atak or Flowmaster Outlaw
I'm trying to decide between the two exhaust setups to make my car louder. I am currently running lt headers with no cats and flowmaster super 40s. I'm looking for a axel back since I already have a 3" exhaust setup.

The Outlaw is a bit lower pitched and less raspy. If that's what you want, then go with that.

I'd definitely want to go with the less raspy system since I'm not running cats. I was thinking if I go with the outlaw system I could probably just buy the mufflers and just cut off my 40s and weld up the outlaw mufflers.

You'll find guys who swear by both of these. I like my Outlaws better than the Borlas. (I like the price better too.) There's lots of guys with either of these setups in Houston, myself included. I'd listen to both and then make your choice. (in person. YouTube videos don't do exhaust systems any justice.)
You can PM Matt@Flowmaster about your idea on just swapping the mufflers. I know the Outlaws and American Thunders are interchangeable (Per Matt) but I don't know about the 40s. If you want to listen to my car just let me know.

Thanks for the info I appreciate that. I have been leaning more toward the flowmasters honestly because of the price. Ill pm Matt and see what he says. Also I'll pm you when I have some time to hear your car |

Gotta chime in for the Borla. When i was running just the ATAK system before headers cam or anything else, holy crap what a noise difference. It is a bit higher pitch than the flowmasters, but in my opinion it sounds amazing. If really loud is what you are looking for the ATAK will do it just fine. I tend to think of it as a new age muscle sound more than the old school muscle sound. You still get the feeling of old school with it, but you also get a new muscle sound with it as well.
The key here is that the sound is all opinion based. What some call raspy, other's don't. Some like the tone of one while other's like a different tone. In the end it all comes down to which one you like the most. Just had to chime in for the Borla setup though...

Thanks for sharing. I agree it does all come down to personal preference. I use to have a ls1 car that also was cattless with lt and dumped exhaust no mufflers, and I loved the way it sounded. It was a little raspy but with the cam the car definitely sounded like it meant business. Do you happen to have any videos of your car idling? |

Thanks. Video's were taken with an iPhone so it still isn't truly what it sounds like in person, but pretty close I think. You don't get the feeling in your chest like you would in person.
