2010 Camaro GS Racecar Concept to be auctioned in Monterey at Mecum
Via the Mecum Auction website, the 2010 Camaro GS Racecar Concept [see original details / photos] will be auctioned off at the Mecum Auctions in Monterey on August 15-17.
Monterey 2013 August 15-17, 2013 DESCRIPTION ESTIMATE: $110,000 - $200,000 One of the icons of the original SCCA Trans Am series was the distinctive Blue and Yellow 1969 Camaro Z28 entered by Roger Penske and driven by the brilliant Mark Donohue, who dominated on the way to winning that year’s Trans Am championship. It was no surprise then when General Motors’ High Performance Vehicle Operations and Chevrolet Division together drew on that historical heritage to create this Camaro prototype race car. Built by Milford Proving Ground technicians in GM’s famed Building 27 in 2008 and tested at the Milford Proving Ground, the car made its debut at the 2008 SEMA show as one of four featured Chevrolet concept vehicles. Beneath its timeless Penske-Sunoco livery, this new-generation Camaro builds on proven race craft with today’s computer-generated technological advances. The full roll cage and reinforced chassis conform to Grand Am Koni Challenge GS racing class rules, with suspension and handling upgrades that include Koni coilover struts and shocks, heavy duty Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes, adjustable sway bars and caster/camber plates and urethane bushings. The solidly mounted production SS 6.2 L LS3 engine works through a Tremec 6060 6-speed to an AAM rear end, all served by external coolers and a C&R aluminum racing radiator. A carbon fiber hood, doors, fenders and trunk lid shave precious pounds, while front and rear spoilers add downforce at speed, aiding the Hoosier spec tires in their pursuit of maximum adhesion. Sold on bill of sale, this GM Prototype Camaro racer comes complete with a digital photo album chronicling its build step by step. Curious what you would do with it if you bought it? It's probably not competitive in any class of SCCA racing and, you couldn't start a one car museum. Jay Leno needs this car, but I couldn't see buying it.

All will be for sale at season's end. You can get Stevenson's #57 and the #9 GS. Looks like they will be running 2 Z28s in the GS class next year as well as CKS Autosport.

What GS class? Grand-am is merging with ALMS next year. New classes.

Only seen class re-structures for Rolex and ALMS. Haven't seen anything for the CTS. What makes you think it won't remain the same?
