Tranny failures are few and far between. That transmission is absolutely astonishing, and I think that if you ever got to drive a GTR, you would realize it is not just the same as an automatic transmission. So different than you think

It was due to repeated use of launch control by the user. Nissan removed launch control for 2010, 2011 and put it back in in 2012 with a computer override that would stop the car from using launch control after 2-3 consecutive launches until a cooldown period occurred. I love when people bring up old facts and try to make them relevant without doing actual reading or understanding the background. GT-R hater fail.

This race was an insult. First the driver burned tires for 2.5 secs, That right there is an automatic failure. Was this intended to demoralize the ss...seems so to me. Power without traction is useless. smh at this malarky.
But not to take from the car...I love the GTR....and If I could afford one I would own it. Fully prepped and in assault arsenal almost NO car can beat it. And all the corvette guys would agree pretty much. |

Driven an 2012 GT-R, cool car yes, but it's a bench race car. Great numbers, but it has no soul. Fast, but not exciting, feels exactly like what it was designed as: a video game for the real world.

GTR is AWD, lighter, and a little extra HP. Also SS might have been an A/T while the GTR was a stick. Like they said up there^ the camaro would've done better off with some slicks and drag suspension.

The SS should have been able to turn much better than a 13+ 1/4 mile. That is what a V6 would do. The ZL-1 would lose also, but I doubt it would get slaughtered like that.

There is a dark gray one at Orlando Speed World that picks on all mustangs , Camaro's and vettes. It runs 10.60's. He thought he was the quickest, until I smoked him in the blue car. Just ask Matt @ FSP.

I drive right by Speed World in Bithlo (if that is the one you are talking about) on the way to work. I've been looking around on Youtube see some 2013 GT500's beat ZL-1's, tie ZL-1's and sometimes lose to them. But in almost every case, the ZL-1 is ahead at 100'. The Shelby will usually catch it, but not always a ZL-1 is nothing to sneer at. I think the Shelby requires a better driver to maximize what it can do. Even with a tie, the Shelby is usually going 4-5 mph faster at the 1/4 mark making up for the lost launch. If the race were 1/2 mile, it might be going 8-9 mph faster. That car, stock, can be an 11.8 or a 12.8 second car all depending on the driver and how quickly he gets grip. That is the car's Achilles tendon. Even the 2010-2012's are capable of low 12's with a skilled driver. But they are also capable of low 13's with a not so skilled driver. The driver makes a huge difference. An excellent driver can take a SS 1LE and beat a mediocre Shelby driver, and he can also take that Shelby and beat the other guy if they switch cars. Good job on taking out that Nissan. A dose of humility now and then isn't such a bad thing.
