RX Catch Can Question

To people that own a RX catch can.... Is the bottom valve open or closed when the screw is all the way up (like closest the top of the can.

It is the little wing nut valve. When it is closest to the can is actually opened or closed?

I have been smelling burning oil and I think my can is actually opened instead of closed and dripping oil onto the front of my motor and burning up.

Thanks!

I do not remember the situation with the wing nut, but I did upgrade mine right away using this style:

With the can properly installed, turned all the way counter-clockwise ("little wing nut valve" all the way up) is the OPEN position - that is to say, the "Drain" position. To close the valve (and not leak oily gunk out) turn it all the way clockwise or, all the way down. It's just the opposite of what you would think.

Just put your finger on the end of the tube, if you feel suction you know it's open.

I did this also. it holds a little more volume of crud and the ball valve on the end makes it much easier to drain
