The Camaro clutch is the worst I've owned yet....seriously

I have had a number of sports cars over the years and the clutch in my Camaro is by far the worst feeling clutch of any of them. I'm curious if others have the same impression. The back pressure is like the clutch is on a compound bow cam. Light pressure close to the floor that gets harder until about 3/4 of the way up where it kind of "pops" like it's rolling over the lobe and then it gets easier again. It makes it very difficult to shift smoothly when the clutch pedal pressure is changes through the stroke. When that "pop" occurs, if I'm not ready for it, it makes the car jerk.

Anyone else?

I get that same popping feeling too that jerks the car. I've wondered if its just me not mastering it yet or am I just a shitty driver? haha

I would take it in under warranty, mine had problems, but your's seems different than most of the peoples clutch issues.

I'm no fan either. It's the cam-like feel i hate. I have to wear slick bottomed shoes so i can slide my foot up as it rolls out. I learned to drive on a stick when i was five...we've got 22 vehicles on the farm with a clutch....the camaro is the worst.

I think it would be better if we didn't even have hydraulic clutches in sports cars.

My wife drives the car too. I cant drive this thing worth a shit. She learned to drive a stick on her 02 SS and has no issues. Me, I drive an 06 Sonata 5 speed as my DD. Then I drive the SS for pleasure. The difference, feel, and everything about them couldn't be more different. I suck at this clutch.

If you wear boots, try these Redwing 402's. They're slick on the bottom and they're the only boot i own that i can drive the camaro with.

Flush and bleed the system and it will work smooth again for awhile until the clutch dust contamination and heat thicken the fluid again.

How is clutch dust getting into the hydraulic system exactly?

The cam, over-center feeling comes straight from the factory.

I don't have any problems with it, but this is the first standard I have owned.

Why in the world would they design a system like that? It makes the car almost impossible to drive smoothly. So what, we drive around looking like a bunch of 15 year-olds learning to drive in dad's car? Holy hell...what were they thinking?

Some people probably complained years ago about how high-horsepower clutches take too much pressure to hold in at a stoplight, so they designed it to require less foot pressure when disengaged. Newer semi tractors are this way as well. ugh.
