Anyone know if the real world MPG for the gas ZR2 is a bad as the EPA rating?
How in the world this truck, with its 8 speed and V6 is rated at 18 on the highway is kind of baffling to me. I would have assumed 20+ easily on the highway.

The ZR2 is heavy. the Aero is not good, it is a 4x4, it has aggressive tread and IMO GM has a car engine in a truck.
If the truck is closer to 5000lbs versus 4000lbs, the small 3.6L V6 is not enough. |

You have been hating on this truck since it came out? I really do not get it?

He's just mad it doesn't have a V8 option like the 1st gen eventually got. I love the truck, but me too.

It does seem underpowered on paper for almost 4,800 pounds, but it's not exactly slow either..
http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevr...t-test-review/ "The 0–60-mph run takes the V-6 Colorado ZR2 7.1 seconds to complete, and the quarter mile falls in 15.5 seconds at 90.0 mph." |

If its too small and overworked, then what about the base 4 cylinder in the Colorado & Canyon? Afterall, if the 3.6 is too small & fuel economy suffers because of it ... it should be even more true for the 2.5L. And yet, the 2.5 manages to deliver better fuel economy than the V6. Not by much, but it is better. And thats with a 6 speed not the 8 that the V6 gets.

The older LFX in my 2015 model runs pretty well in my opinion. His comment about "car engine" is just off base. Sure, the TQ isn't quite as stout as the 4.3 V6, but the TQ curve on the 3.6 is very flat from the low to mid 2K range up through around 5,500. You don't have to ring it out to get decent acceleration.

That could be. It sounded to me like it was an HSV company that was doing it, so it might be an "official" thing, but maybe not.
All I know is, if the Ranger Raptor comes stateside with a powerful EcoBoost, its going to leave lots of GM fans longing for a more powerful Colorado competitor. The ZR2 is awesome as is in my opinion, but dang if GM was to bring a power sport Colorado to the market, it will tempt me. Lol.

According to the report, the hopped-up Colorado will come via Walkinshaw, which also backs Holden Special Vehicles. It’s unclear if HSV will go away entirely following the demise of the locally-built Holden Commodore. Some reports claimed HSV will simply become Walkinshaw altogether. The Walkinshaw Holden Colorado will reportedly feature a twin-turbo V6 plucked from a certain premium brand. We’d surmise that means Cadillac, which offers the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine for a couple of V-Sport offerings.
I like the last paragraph... Details are scarce at the moment, but if Walkinshaw can do it, Chevrolet can do it. We hope there’s something more potent in the works for North America’s Chevrolet Colorado. Maybe a high-performance Colorado ZR2 to do battle with the all-but-confirmed Ford Ranger Raptor. Can they? Sure. Will they? I lean towards doubtful, but optimistic.
What gives me hope more than anything, is if Ford brings one to market in the Ranger, then GM may answer.

Yeah... GM seems to be pretty conservative on many performance vehicles. Ford, not so much... Dodge, NOT!
