It's so good that Ferrari bought the tech for some of its cars.

Not sure where Ford gets theirs, but I'm sure it's a copy.
Took Ford 13 years to implement it. Says a lot about their technical prowess.

The Chinese company BWI, (the one noted in the wiki page you referenced) that now owns the rights to what GM calls MRC, has trademarked it as "MagnaRide" - Any manufacturer with enough $ and desire can go out and buy it for their portfolio, which Ford has done.

And yes I fully expect an FI 5.0 Coyote or 5.2 Voodoo for the next GT500. It's coming for sure.
its the same reason that serious road course dedicated cars have a launch control....because its awesome to use lol

And as we all know the Camaro ZL1 has the magnetic ride system from 2012. One of the strong points of the ZL1 handling

Think you guys are missing the point, they developed a mode specifically for drag racing...not track mode which is what all the GM cars have so far. So the question is, does launch control on any of the GM cars with MRC perform something similar? And how much difference will it actually make in the 1/4.

This! Thank you SuperSound. I know MRC has been around for awhile but this is the first time I've ever heard of a Drag Mode being developed for it. I would never want to put Drag springs on my daily driver but being able to dial up Drag mode with the MRC would be pretty sweet.

FBodFather! Make this happen!!!

ZL1's PTM #5 was developed for Drag use on a well-prepped track.

The GT350's system is soft at launch for weight transfer and then firms up as you accelerate down the track. I haven't heard anything about GM's version doing that.

Remember seeing that, but don't think it's specifically for drag racing in the sense of Ford's Drag mode is with softening the suspension to promote better weight transfer.

This exactly. We know that GM cars have had MRC for a while. We want the drag mode! Not just the track modes.

Exactly. PTM #5 is for drag racing.

Performance Traction 5 = RACE, Active Handling OFF, Traction Control ON, Suspension Mode TRACK

it is not designed to modify the suspension for drag racing, but modifies multiple aspects that PTM adjusts...i.e. you would use the same thing on a road course or autox. You would not use Ford's Drag mode in either of those cases.

"PERF TRACTION 5 – RACE /
ACTIVE HANDLING OFF
. For use by drivers who are
familiar with the track.
. Requires more driving skill than
in other modes.
. Dry conditions only.
. StabiliTrak is off and available
engine power is available for
maximum cornering speed. for
Use mode 5 for most consistent
performance during drag strip use.
When the TCS/StabiliTrak button is
pressed again, the vehicle exits
PTM mode and the TCS and
StabiliTrak systems are on.
Use Mode 5 for the most consistent
performance during drag strip use."

The problem with PTM mode 5 is it does to much like reduction of power. there needs to be a way to just soften the suspention without enabling the nannies as I don't like them at all for drag racing.

PTM 5 has more going on than being a Drag mode. It tightens steering and actually siffens the suspension. I like it on a smooth road but not for the strip.

The thing I think is funny is all the ford guys used to do is talk smack about mag ride. not that ford added it it's the new coolaid ha ha. I will be more interented to see how the new tranny holds up to drag duty as the MT-82 is a pile of crap IMO. I have a 1:1 scale diecast of a 13 5.0 in my shop right now with a grenaded mt-82.

My MT-82 is holding up just fine so far with 50k miles and mild upgrades. Guess I got a lucky one. That said I'm not Ford loyal, unlike most of my family, and have decided that my next car must have MRC, so up until the announcement of the GT350 I completely ruled out any Ford vehicle. I think the new mustang body style is ugly though so Ford is still ruled out for my next car purchase.

I remember reading when the ZR1 came out they had a feature like this. Basically the MRC makes it so when accelerating, the car transfers as much weight to the back as possible. Its a feature built into the calibration, they didnt give a "mode" name like Ford did.
