Definitely. But it's not like through the years GM has not also had a lot of special editions of the Camaro. Some of those posted previously are not even Ford manufactured products based on the Mustang, so I not sure they count any more than a Hennessey or Lingenfelter Camaro would.

I read this whole thread and I just can't understand why both the z/28 and the GT350R can't both be recognized as great performance cars without all the brand-loyal drama.

Well , just saying that they're introduced as mustangs and has a great value because of the history package!

And I see a lot of love for the other 2 muscle cars ! I don't care who makes the car it's about if I like it which I don't like the looks of the GT350R but I like the look of the GT350! We all know that muscle cars have some impressive performance, I guess you can say it's expected!

And I'm not talking about appearance additions which GM has alot of! And the new editions don't have history !

Roush and Saleen are after title 3rd party cars. Just like the Shelby American cars. Saleen, more so that the others even. Their cars are actually reVIN'd as Saleen cars; S281, S302, S351, and thusly aren't even Mustangs anymore, if that makes any sense.

The Mustang trims that Ford currently produces are:
Mustang
Mustang Ecoboost
Mustang GT
GT350 (soon)

Past trims that are currently out of production include:
BOSS302
BOSS351
BOSS429
Mach1
Ghia
Cobra
Cobra II
King Cobra
Cobra R
MPG Stallion
SVO
L
GL
GLX
GTS
LX
Turbo-GT
Bullitt
GT500
GT500KR

If you start just listing special editions and tuner cars, you can get a crazy list with either.

Hot wheels and Transformers is all cosmetic! Forget those! Mustang has a lot of performance ones! And that's what I was saying because after all these cars are about performance !

The 350r looks very nice....but these cars are meant for the track. No way it will touch the z/28. Shelby is awesome, really is, but people STILL struggle to understand how capable the z/28 is.

Oh, dont be surprised if the shelby is heavier.

Hmmm kinda see a resemblance here. I know Ford targeted the M cars for construction but this is getting scary.

For the record I am not bashing the Z/28 and I can understand the statement made about comparing a "new" car to one that is 2 to 3 years into production. To be honest since cars are not released together the 2 to 3 year gap is a common reality. Look at the 03-04 Cobra. How many different model years and different branded cars was it compared to. In 04 there was nothing on the street that could even touch that car in its price point. Just the way it is I guess.

I think the Z/28 is the reason the GT350 and 350R have become what they are or will be. If it were not for other cars being so superior this car wouldn't be what it is.

And ill personally take what's under the hood of the Shelby vs the BMW. Also if I need to replace a fuel pump or an alternator it wont cost me 4k haha.
