Lets assume it's 75lbs less (ultra conservative estimate, some people are reporting the GT350 for an aluminum K-frame, if that's the case then we're looking at closer to 150lbs less), that would put a GT350 at 3,655.

Take 150lbs from that? 3,500lb GT350R with "more than 500 hp" (most estimates put it at 525) and "more than 400tq".
From Ford's press release: Shelby GT350R is more than 130 pounds lighter than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack model.

Ford said the Base GT350 would weigh less than the GT (3705)...NOT the Base with Track Pack GT350. From there, you and all Ford fans have taken the lightest weight GT350 (which is NOT what Ford is using for their "130 lb. LESS" calculation, are they?) and coming up with fanciful numbers meant to make Pericak look like a fibber about Curb Weights AGAIN.

Better how? Against which Corvette? The GT350-R will price out very close to a Z06. So you think the GT350-R will outrun the Z06's 2:41 @ VIR?

More flights of fantasy from Ford Fans.

I want to see a comparison between Z/28, GT350, and GT350R!! Bring it on!

I'm seeing both 350s as having more acceleration than Z/28, but the Z/28 being faster on the track than the 350, while the 350R will take the gold.

I agree with this....as in the part about it pricing out close to a Z06. Can't compare it to a vette Z51 if the price is closer to a Z06.

But I'm no Ford hater either...I think they really have something great here with their 350 and 350R variants. Too bad the regular base Mustang and GT don't have the same proportions as these cars do.

Its a stunning car so credit where its due. I find it interesting you can buy a base one to be equipped like a Z/28 with no amenities and then option it up to the level of a ZL1 with all the goodies and Mag ride. Smart plan by Ford to just lay it out on the table and let the customers decide and order what they want.

This is exactly what a lot of us Camaro guys have been asking GM to do. Give us a base Z/28 with nothing in it but a LS7 and. Stick shift and let us decide what options to ask with a loaded out supercharged "luxury" version equaling the ZL1. But lets be honest Ford is just finally catching up to where us C5 folks have been living for a few years. If Ford keeps this up and GM doesn't play some better hands next round I may be driving a GT350R when I'm done with my ZL1 depending on how it performs and the price.

Your future will be safe with the Gen-6 Camaro. Stay tuned.

After all, the Team didn't set "the benchmark" with the Z/28 just to ignore it, next-Gen.

I doubt they want to ignore it but if they can't replicate it due to no proper engine, what else can they do?

Fully Loaded Stingray's start at 69k and only go up. So you're saying we cant compare those two cars? Why because one has more tech than the other? This GT350R is going to shock a lot of people. Prepare for it.

Plus everyone seems perfectly content when quoting the Z06's Hero run with a GM engineer in the seat. Lets wait till we see C/D's lightning lap.

If that ends up happening I will definitely be jumping ship.
There was no ZL1 or 1LE when Ford engineered the last Gen Boss 302. I do agree, however, that without the z/28, a GT350R does not get a green light for production.
