Quick question. I plan ordering a 1LT camaro and wanted to know if the Heavy-Duty Cooling and Brake Package worth it? Anyone that may have ordered the LT trim what made you decide to purchase/not purchase the package?
Thanks, |

If you are an easy driver who doesn't use the brakes hard much, the stock standard pads and rotors will be fine. The heavy duty cooling will only really benefit you if you're tracking or racing the car. Standard cooling system for the V6 and 8 speed auto will do fine for normal driving. So basically, if you plan on doing any hard driving you should get the cooling/brake package. If not then don't worry about it. |

Agreed. Only really needed if you are going to flogging that car around on a track, or doing some auto-x stuff, or you just love to drive the car fast on the back roads a lot. For normal driving, where you'll occasionally get on it and have fun, and maybe do some not always legal street driving....no need for it.

Thank you guys. I was looking at the new online build sheet and saw that it would have only cost me an extra $485 for brembo's! I was feeling like I screwed up not ticking that box when I placed my original order. But, I thought they were $1,285.00.
Stock brakes have been sufficient in every car I've owned. Should be fine - and you all have eased my mind.

I can not imagine ordering and passing on a heavy duty cooling package if available and I am not considered by those who know me as an especially hard driver. The "improved" brakes that are part of this particular package to me are incidental.
So would I consider this package "worth" it? You betcha. Laborsmith |

I would think the standard cooling on a performance V8 is set up for heavy use. Not Track use.....but good enough for spirited driving

Thanks for the good feedback. I tend to be a hard driver, and it's looking like I am leaning towards the package..it's only $485...I'm still well below my budget so why not..

Is that just for the brake upgrade or do you also get additional cooling? For that amount of money, I would add it, just because!

This package is standard on the SS.
Incidentally, if added to the turbo equipped LT it includes an additional engine cooler, if I am reading the Order Guide correctly. Laborsmith |

If it really is only $495, then sure it does sound worth it. I would probably add it for that price. But I still say for anything less than abnormally hard driving or track use it isn't needed. I had regular brakes on 2010 V6 and never came close to going over using them. This car is much lighter and the standard brakes are likely just as good.

Just noticed the price on the heavy duty cooling and brake package jumped to $1285! For anyone who got this for $485, that was an unbelievable deal, since the brake upgrade by itself is $2175. Still, even at $1285, that's a much better deal than the brakes alone. At either price, it doesn't really make sense since what's included in the cooling and brake package appears to be the same as brake upgrade kit by itself. Of course, you have to get the RS package to get the cooling and brake package, but still...

It was $485 because you ordered an RS w/V6. If you do not order the RS it is $1285...but it also bumps you up to the RS. So yes, it shows $485....but it gets rolled into the above packages. Everyone paid the $1285, it just shows it differently depending on how you order the options. It ends up all being the same.
