Hmmm....Ats and ats -v

Ats = Camaro

Do you really think they are going to dump a lot of money in developing new engine when the development is already done and paid for in the ats-v ?

ATS-v = Z28

done and done and already developed and waiting a rebadge.
ATS-V =/= Z/28.
The LF4 is a wash for the LT1. It may make more power but its down on torque. The Z/28 needs something better than the LF4 if it is supposed to compete with the GT350.

GM still has a live trademark application for LT5.

The 6th gen is already lighter and for sure they learned a lot on weight savings and aero on the 5th gen Z/28 just put the two together and they will have a winner if it is under $60K
Because until the revival of the Ford GT their top level car has always been the mustang, so the mustang for Ford is essentially the corvette for GM, and you have to look at how they are developed and engineered the same. GM does for the corvette what Ford does for the mustang. Each get their own frames and specially designed engines, for example. GM would need to start treating the camaro as it's own car and create things exclusively for it in order for the engineering and design of the mustang and camaro to be equal, not just put it on an ATS frame with corvette hand-me-down parts.

I'm not saying GM doesn't care about the camaro, they clearly do and the 6th gen is awesome. I'm saying GM would need to the treat the camaro the same as the corvette.

Maybe that's what GM should do. It's not like the Mustang is any worse or expensive for having it's own chassis and power trains.

I agree. I'm somewhat surprised (and a little disappointed) that the ATS-V didn't get the LT1. I bet the fuel economy #s will be better on the LT1 camaro as well!

Maybe a Z/28 with a high revving 525HP "LT2," special light weight wheels, carbon brakes and special light weight features. For around $48K.

LT-1 -1LE
LT4-ZL1
302?-Z/28

Sounds like a no brainer to me. A new 302 seemed all but impossible until this came about. It doesn't have to have 600HP, 525 or so would be fine and price it near the GT350. I'll take mine in Hyper Blue.

An LTx 302 won't make enough power, at least in smog legal form, to compete with the 5.2 Voodoo.

Better make it 527HP, Ford just released GT350 HP numbers.

I still have this gut feeling that there is at least one more LT engine in the GenV group. I think a FI (TT perhaps) version of the L86 would be a good bet. With stronger rods/pistons/crank and different heads that thing could make some real power (550+). Of course, I'm wrong more often than I'm right.
