LOL! on the Lambo post haha, that was amazing...

Also am i the only one who doesnt see the significant changes? I mean i see the suede (and kinda like it actually), i see the evil evil steering wheel, and the gauges but is that it? It looks pretty much the same to me, and i dont think suede will lighten up the cockpit any myself haha =P

The new interior looks good and love the suede option, hope it's available on non-ZL1 models.

You'll be lucky to get 15,000 carefully driven miles out of that steering wheel before it turns fugly...
BMW's often get their optional suede's replaced under warranty

I'm sure the suede on the steering wheel would fall under bumper to bumper warranty. Though I personally don't like the steering wheel, so if I had the chance to buy a ZL1 I would switch the wheels.

I feel the need to point out, again, this is microsuede...it's not going to disintegrate if you look at it funny...

They don't do either of that anymore...market research, benefit /vs cost, etc...it was a calculated decision to appeal to more buyers, based on feedback from real owners.

We're important....but don't overestimate our influence here online. We're just a part of the big picture they use to decide these things.

EDIT: I'll probably get it depending on price, but I'm interested to know what will replace the suede when the option is not checked...

If people did not complain, then they would not have switched the wheel, or modified the dashboard for the trim insert. Fact is ... they DO listen. Otherwise, they would not have changed anything.

Using the "corporate steering wheel" from all their other new vehicles obviously makes the production cost go down. No argueing against that. However they are also getting rid of a perfectly good steering wheel which they already spent money to develope. So that move does not make complete sense to me. I would think the number of peope who like the current steering wheel would far outweigh the number of people who would prefer the standard "corporate carryover wheel."

As I said before, blatant part sharing is one of the many things that give the perception of low quality, that American car companies have been trying to shake off for years. If they keep pulling the same ol' tricks.... nothing will ever change.

People always tend to reject the "new." And if GM (or any company) continues to listen to those people, then there will never be any progress or evolution.

I am pretty biased in my opinion, as I'm a car design nut. I just hate to see good design get butchered.

And to answer your question about the ZL1 Suede Package..... the standard interior for the ZL1 will most likely be leather, like the 2SS. Reference the CTS-V for similar packaging content. Suede/Microfiber is an add-on.

Oh, I'm not denying that at all! I was just rebutting the idea that they changed it knee-jerk style because somebody whined...

They may have started with the corporate wheel, but they've made enough changes to it, I think, to balance out any economies-of-scale cost savings.

I didn't have an issue with the old wheel, myself...but clearly, enough did that merited a change. And with respect...don't blow this out of proportion.

That's what I'm thinking as well...but nothing has officially been stated in terms of options and packaging. So whether it's leather, cloth like the Cruze, or gloss panels like the doors of the Camaro, or something else.... That's why I'm interested to see.

In all fairness, Al did say during his introduction that the new flat bottom steering wheel has a smaller diameter, for better handeling. Said it makes the car feel more nimble. I cannot argue with that. So at least there is some benifit.........

suede > leather. especially when racing. sweaty hands slide on leather steering wheels and shifters. suede grips alll the time. and suede on seats is needed noo more sliding around taking those 60mph turns.

change is good

Ummmm... I thought GM sold Saab????

Compare the Saab 9-4x steering wheel with GM's pride and joy 2012 Camaro wheel ..... same wheel, except for a changed silver trim piece.

I do like the new wheel better than the current one, but come on GM.... a Saab wheel???

Yeah, just stirring it up a little. I actually like the new wheel better than the one that's in it now.
