I am willing to bet that GM offers an automatic transmission for the ZL1. Have faith.

They have already stated they worked on some mass reduction. The car has an electric power steering system (more power also), lighter wheels (22 lbs lighter) and a carbon hood insert just for starters. They added weight with the supercharger and cast differential. My guess is ~4000. I wouldnt be surprised if GM made it a goal to keep the car at or under 4k pounds. It will have more power than the V if only for the power steering pump (and im sure some other things) and be a couple hundred pounds lighter. I am not sure why it would not outperform it in every way. From the looks of what they have done with the car the handling should be phenomenal. |

Not sure what will be faster. But while the live chat was goin on with the ppl from gm the other day, Someone ask if the zl1 will keep up with the gt500? and one of the ppl from gm said
Better yet do you think the gt500 will keep with the zl1? Just sounds to me like they are saying its more then a little faster, But still to early to tell, But do we knoe it will be one bad mofo for sure.

^^ i dont know about that. autos are stupid proof at the strip. get on the gas and watch as it grabs perfect shifts each time. stick cars is trying to perfect the rpm/clutch realse/ on the gas, than shifting at peak power everytime.
This will be interesting. I cant wait to we actully see what the ZL1 does on the road course compared to the gt500. the caddy is one badass 4-door tho.

I don't think ZL1 will be as heavy as CTS-V. I think ZL1 will get closer to 600 horse' than CTS-V is. I think a MT ZL1 will have a hard time staying in front of an AT CTS-V, but if GM gets an AT in the ZL1, it will be a clear acceleration winner.

Agreed, and we've seen before when GM would bump the HP of a motor in certain models over other models (such as the LS1s in Camaros vs. Vettes) id bet the ZL1 will pick up some horses off re-tuning alone. Also the Camaro has the Vette-inspired exhaust, and 3.73 gears. Aside from all that i cant ever imagine a Camaro being heavier than a Cadillac haha, so manual tranny or not my vote goes to the sports car over the luxury car =P

I think the ZL1 will win.
The CTS-V coupe weights 4237lbs with an auto tranny The CTS-V Sedan weights 4222lbs with a manual. I honestly don't think the ZL1 will weight more than 4000 lbs. Plus both CTS-V's are running 285/35R19 rears and the ZL1 is running Sticky's 305/35-20 rears All that Plus, i think the ZL1 will put down more HP and torque than the CTS-V I personally am almost 100% sure the ZL1 will beat the CTS-V |

Cadillac wishes it could do 3.9 to sixty. The test I saw for it had it at 4.2 or 4.3 and mid 12's quarter mile.
With this powertrain and some good gearing, chevy should make 3.9 to sixty and a very high 11 quarter mile mark its goal.
