Exclamation Aux fuel pumps - not that good!

So last year with my Hurron Speed twin turbo kit on pump e85 and wastegate spring boost (13 psi) I made 789 rwhp. I was told to up the boost I needed more fuel.

I upgraded my 90 lb injectors to 120lb
For my fuel pump(s) in addition to my already Livernois twin pump with DW300 pumps inside and on JMS booster, I added the SMG Aux pump.

Pretty much hitting the same boost and a little more power, tuner tells me I am still running out of fuel. At 13.5 PSI made 820.

So I have 3 fuel pumps and 120 lb injectors. We can watch the Aux Pump kick on around 5 PSI at about 3600 RPM, but the fuel pressure was dropping up top. My tuner says my FPCM is correctly tuned.

Anyone making good power on e85 with an Aux pump? I was hoping for more...

I had the same experience. Around 840 whp couldn't maintain FP. Pump E85, ZL1 pump, fpcm tune, and dsx aux. I even tried a larger aux pump and lines from tank to aux pump. It's time to add a return style system. With triple 450s and a return, I hold 73+psi to redline.

This is why I just pulled my ZL1 pump and DSX aux kit off my car.
My new 416 with novi 2200x on E85was going to need more fuel.
I went AGP triple system. It’s just fore system with better wiring. I am also adding a 2nd switch to stage the 3 pumps. Also looking into putting the pressure sensor back in the system.

I still have the stock return-less fuel lines in place. FPCM still functioning.

Got a link to the AGP system so we can check it out? I'm in a similar position where in order to make more power I have to do a return system.

It's pretty popular, for good reason.

If you guys are trying to run 850-900rwhp with E85 you need a legit dual or triple in tank set up. We have taking the Squash dual pumps past those numbers but if you're eyeing 1000rwhp on E I'd go with a Fore triple.

Just curious, what size is the larger aux pump? Mine is a 255

Thanks

Okay I know I’m out of my league on this post, but... I’m running somewhere around 550 rwhp (dyno next month). My tuner told me my LS3 fuel pump will feed my 85# injectors fine. If after tune I want more he recommended a aux fuel pump instead of going dual in the tank. Agree or disagree?

E85 consumption is 30% more, you would be in similar situation as OP. 85/90# injectors and stock LS3 / ZL1 will not fulfill your E85 dreams, and seems OP says aux pumps suck.

If you were to stay on pump gas this would be different and maybe a aux pump would work for you, but E85 needs more.

You don't need an aux pump if you're running 93octane for your build. My setup will support about 750whp on 93, over 800 on 100 octane. But i would be out of fuel if i was running e85. If you plan to push it to 750 or more I'd skip the aux and just go with dual or triple pump return style

It was this one.

I saw more pressure when it kicked in, but the FP still tapered off some. It's not the stock feed line, because many have used that up to 1100whp and beyond. I'm guessing it must have to do with sharing the feed line with the in tank pumps. Maybe there is some type of internal regulation going on inside the tank and pressure bleeds back into the bucket. I dont know, but I gave up and went triples.

It's all in the tuning. The stock FPCM need to be tuned otherwise the pressure will drop. Anytime you add a aux pump on the 5gen tuning is required.
