What Aftermarket Heads?

What after market heads do you guys recommend for the LS7. My heads have been ported by Hennessey with the package that was bought... However I might go in a different direction.

heads aren't a big hp maker on the LS7 over the stockers. The biggest benefit of aftermarket heads is upgraded guides and one piece valves that should help the issues LS7 factory heads have. I would leave the heads alone and swap out the upper intake, throttle body, and pick a different cam profile. I heard Katech is a great company to look at for LS7 cams or BTR...give them a shout.

If you don't mind, what did the HPE 650 run you? Considering it.

Another Z/28 owner with the HPE package said he paid $13K but he also said he wasn't super happy with the end numbers for the price he paid. Seems like lots of other shops can do quality work at a much more reasonable price. You're gonna pay a lot for the Hennessey name.

Hey guys.
Yea. I paid 13K for the 650 package. But it was more like 580HP. I tried for a long time to discuss it with them, but they never replied. I added a MSD intake, 102mm TB and a good tune from www.cunningham-motorsports.com its 590 at the wheels now. I think thats close to 650 motor. So my advice. Find someone else- Not Hennessy.

I ran ls7 prc 285 heads on my sleeved 454. They flow 415 cfm on 4.125 bore where the factory ls7s flow 370. My 454 made over 700 motor hp and over 600 rwhp.

We typically see 540s rwhp w cam & headers only
570s if you add the stg 2 WCC heads and 585-590 rwhp w cam, heads, headers, 102 TB and MSD intake all w pump gas and catalytic converters.
A nice set of heads will make a nice gain IF chosen with the right cam

I wouldn't get the Hennessey Package... Since I have taken ownership of the car, they are piss poor with their customer service... I had the car on a Dyno last week, and it put out 510 HP to the wheels... this is a far cry from where it should be and what they claim. My dyno graph from them shows 548 HP to the wheels. They won't let me know what grind the cam is so I am probably going to pull it all out and have a local race shop here in Charlotte redo everything. They are getting between 580-590 to the wheels with their 600 HP package... With Hennessey, you are just paying for the name... and some stupid stickers. Way over priced in my opinion. I am just glad I didn't pay for the Hennessey package... I bought the car used from a guy in Texas.

Just dyno'd a 15 Z28 with 450 miles on it stock. Made 436hp/402tq. The normal z06 vette makes 460hp/425tq. So, these z28's are down on power compared to the vette's.

You are aware that thread is nearly 10 years old and Hennessey is still in business, aren't you?

I trust that you are speaking from experience with Hennessy. You should post some relevant information to support your claim. I'm sure interested.

If you're just passing along something you "heard on the Internet", it makes you sound like a douche.
