Cool won't pass smog..

my car with 400 miles on it didn't pass smog...the chick doing the test suggested i put some more miles on the car...she said the "sensors" weren't "talking " to the computer in the car yet...

i put 400 more lies on the car today,

thoughts?

Why on earth do you need to pass a smog check on a new car?
You don't need your first smog check in Ca until the car is 6 years old.

You shouldn't need an emissions test on a new car, should have come from dealer inspected

If you've had the battery disconnected for any reason recently, it may not have enough info/history recorded for a thorough test....a reason it would need more miles put on it...and why 400 miles total may not be enough...

I had the same issue when i bought my car from michigan then I'm from california. That's why they require smog test. You only need to add more miles to it then it will work i think my car pass smog test at 1k miles. But every car is different. Good luck.

I think it depends on the type of driving done...needs a good mix of highway, stop and go, etc.....

Certain counties here in Ohio (like here in Lake County) still have e-check, though not till the car is, iirc, 4 years old.

Ya kinda strange that you need a smog check with only 400 miles on the car...might wanna look into that first.

We've had emissions testing here for many years and it's really a tax grab (here anyways) but I was told to bring the car "warmed" up before taking the test. Not sure if that was your case or not (cold start before testing).

Good luck.
