Decel popping
2011 camaro, kook long tube headers with full flow cats, stock mufflers, mild jre cam, variram CAI, ported throttle body, dyno tuned and a 391 rear. Had mild popping and crackle before cam, but much more after the cam and retune. I like the sound but can to much popping be bad for the car? Also I drove the car today for about an hour and parked in my driveway.about five minutes after I turned the car off I hear a noticeable bang from the car, like someone dropping something on the ground. Checked over the car, took it for a ride and it seems fine, but what's up with that noise. I'm in NJ and it was about 50 degrees out when I parked it. ...?..?

That decel poping can be tuned out. I had Ted do that on a email tune for me.

It's the DFCO=Deceleration Fuel Cut Off, the purpose is to let some gas flow through the exhaust to keep the cats from overheating. it can be removed through tuning.

I hate it so I push the clutch in and coast to a stop. I have a professional tune done and it didn't tune out the noise. I didn't specifically ask them to do something about it, maybe you have to ask?

Long tube headers and remove the cats, my other camaro has the pop sound too. Not as loud as the V8 but you can definitely hear it.

Just drill holes in the mufflers, install spark plugs, and voila!! No more popping...

I have the popping sound with a tune and long tubes without cats. I guess I will find out about tuning it out just like I did with the turd skip shift.
