Sad day today...

On my way home from spending time with the family in Austin my baby had a little run in with a piece of debris in the road. :'( Right out on 35 at Western Center there was something in the road that happened to be there right when my dad, in the car in front of me, moved over a lane. It was just "oh crap, BAM!" No clue what it was, but I know it was not a piece of tire because it caused this much damage. Sad times... :(

It'll end up being ok. I was wanting to get the bumper repainted anyway because it was all chipped and stuff. Hopefully this will work out even better because I want to get the GM front lip and heritage grille to go on it. I'd love the lip and the side skirts but I'm not betting on getting enough for that. Just gotta decide whether or not to trust the ebay look-alike lip or go for the GM one. Already found a grille on ebay.

There you go, look at the positive side of things. Later down the road I'll probably be looking at replacing my front bumper cover. It has a few chips here and there, but it's really ugly looking on the bottom of it, from the previous drivers not knowing how to park properly. Lots of curb rash. >.<

The bumper cover is honestly a lot cheaper than I thought it would be on GMPartsDirect.com. Less than $300. I figure I can talk the dealer down a little bit there, but the scary part is the online price for just the lip is over $500!!! I know that the insurance will quote for the new cover, plastic diffuser, plastic fog light surround, plus paint for the bumper cover and probably blending on the quarter panels and hood. Frankly I'd prefer them to leave my perfectly fine panels/hood alone, so there's a little bit of money there and they can paint the grill instead. I just need to wait and see what the estimate is though, then go to the dealer and see what they'll do for me.

If it matters, it looks like it can be popped out at least. I'm sure it wont look 100% or anything, but it will be little better.

Doh! Sorry to hear that. That sucks. But yup, get in some upgrades and you'll feel so much better about it.

I'll be anxious to see what you wind up doing with it. I've also been thinking about the GM front spliter but am daunted by the price. Even if I get a good price from GMParts direct, the shipping is $170. Doh!

Look forward to seeing it at the next meet if you have her all patched up by then.

I've been looking on Ebay for alternatives, there are plenty of GM-X (as I've come to find out they're called) look-alike lips and skirts for less than $400 each and free shipping. That's probably what I'll end up doing. New bumper, lip, possibly the heritage grille, and later on the skirts and a rear diffuser. I'm not selling it anytime soon so I might as well make this car look badass.
