I suggest NOT doing the fix for the window. Got mine back today after a LONG week and it is absolutely no better than it was before!

I recently got mine back from the dealership for this repair along with a few other issues. Mine still fogs up just as bad as before. The service manager told me they performed the Service Bulletin but also told me that they didnt do any type of software update... It will be going back to fix all the other issues that didnt get fixed along with this upgrade.

There is a software update for the fogging?

Nope, the software is to correct the 'flutter' of the door when it closes after the repair.

GM:
"Remove both foam pads located on the defrost door to address the excessive windshield condensation then update the software to address the flutter issue that results when the foam is removed."

Isn't dew point a lovely thing? Along with automatic climate control. Camaros are not the only cars to experience this by any stretch. Before the days of automatic climate control, all one had to do was to add a little warm back into the air to get the windshield just above the dew point temperature. That's harder to control with how automatic climate control works without making the cabin too warm. I see no way of fixing the isue without some means of achieving 100% airtight enclosure of the defrost door. As someone that deals with airflow every day, I can't believe the fix is to remove a door seal. It should be to install a better one or a stronger closing door. A plastic to plastic seal would be a poor one.

The story is deeper than that.

They poorly designed the hvac case so that the mode door could not contain the cfm's at high speed.

This causes a fluttering mode door and the sound that goes with it.

Duh, their solution was to ADD little foam blocks to hold the mode door open so it wouldn't make the flutter sound at high fan speed.

Duh, too many complaints about air on winshield, duh,

TSB to remove added foam blocks, and reprogram bcm to lower fan speed cfm for high.

Duh, it still leaks - sad failed engineering AND follow-up actions.

Door needs more foam weatherstripping. Might be able to get the actuator to pull it tighter.

Worst part: Had this on my new 1984 Camaro Z28, had to get a job in service to get many issues fixed.

And this was one of them. Necessary to remove entire IP to add weatherstripping to door. Worked perfectly. Needed more foam, no more adjustment left.

34 years later! Duh, windshield? Duh, defroster leaks?

I'm surprised gm's solution doesn't call for windshield removal... Problem solved.

As far as I'm concerned, this is my permanent fix. Easy to put in place and easy to remove if I need more defogging.

No fogging at all anymore. I've practically forgotten it's there until I ran across this thread again! .
This was my solution as well. Works perfect for Florida weather. A professionally made cover would be nice though, I feel like a smart vendor could make some serious $ if they offered something.
