Waze Wierdness

When I use Waze in my Cruze or my wife's Volt, it works as expected. When I use Waze in my Camaro, it displays my speed as exactly half of my actual speed. For example, if I'm doing 70, it says I'm doing 35.

Anybody else have that experience?

Not here, but I do occasionally get the problem with it not updating my location. Usually switching to Google Maps then back to Waze fixes that.

you need to get your speedometer re-calibrated...you're driving too slow.

What kind of Android phone are you using? Makes a difference. Need one that is fast (processor)!

I have the LG V20 and Waze works great 99% of the time. When it doesn't, I restart the phone and all is good..

iPhone X. Did the same thing with the iPhone 6s I had before. As I mentioned, the same phone(s) work(ed) perfectly in the other two Apple CarPlay equipped vehicles in my house.

I’ve noticed the exact same thing on my iPhone X as well. It isn’t consistent and it doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason behind it. I’ll glance up at the phone and it’ll say 35 when I’m going roughly 65. Glance up a few moments later and it has corrected itself.

It’s displaying the “feels like” speed because you are in a Camaro.

Looks like it's when you are running Apple CarPlay. Waze isn't set up to work with CarPlay on iOS.

Seems to be a common complaint on the internets. Folks turn on CarPlay and see what you are observing but unplug the phone and the speed is correct.

Do the Cruze and Volt have CarPlay? Or are you just plugging in.

All three have CarPlay and it works fine in the Cruze and the Volt. Yesterday the Camaro did the same thing when I unplugged it from CarPlay. It only happens in the Camaro.

It’s not CarPlay related. It happens without a USB connected to the phone.

I assumed you were using Waze on your Mylink screen. If you are using an iPhone, you're not...Waze is not compatible with Apple CarPlay, so I guess you are trying to run Waze separately. Are you trying to run CarPlay at the same time?

Whether it is plugged into CarPlay or not, the display on the phone shows speed at half of actual speed in the Camaro. Whether it is plugged into CarPlay or not the phone displays the correct speed in the Cruze or the Volt. In all cases, if it is not plugged into CarPlay it is Bluetooth connected.
