Spring Detail
Had today off so I figured I'd do my full exterior detail I've neglected for almost two years now. I don't think I've done a proper polish on my car since 2012 believe it or not.
The goal today was to strip off the Colli 845 I had put on for winter (before I ended up just buying a beater), polish out anything I might find lurking under there, and apply my favorite coating, GTechniq EXO v2. Not a lot of process pics because nothing new there. You guys have all seen it before. *Wheels cleaned with SCG Balanced Wash (wheel woolies & boar's hair brushes) *Tires wiped down with a rag and SCG Balanced wash (I had just done my wheels good last week with active wheel cleaner and stripped the tires so I didn't need to do that this time if you're wondering.) *Car washed with SCG Surface Prep Wash & MM Incredimitt *Iron X treatment *Speedy Prep clay w/ ONR lube *Polished off remaining GTechniq G1 w/ Ceriglass *Glass treated with FlyBy30 glass coating *Wipers treated w/ Reload *Engine bay washed with SCG APC and various brushes *One step polish w/ FG400 and black Buff and Shine MF Pads on a PC *GTechniq Panel Wipe *2 Coats GTechniq EXO v2 *Wheels & calipers sealed with Sonax PNS *Exhaust tips polished with Mother's metal polish *Trim sealed with UTTG+ Still to do: *Coat of Sonax PNS over EXO v2 *Strip and re-dress interior *Dress engine bay Let me know if you have any questions.

I wish I had a color as easy to make look good as CGM
Immaculate work as always. Just superb. What do you use to dress your engine?

UTTG+ on plastic and rubber, whatever sealant I happen to grab for paint.

In answering this, please specify what we are supposed to bag off/protect from moisture in the engine. I don't know much about what's underneath the hood, so if you could do a pic and circle the protected parts that's even better. Thanks!

What do you use to strip the interior? How can you tell it's needed? I never really thought about interior product buildup.

Excellent question, I've been meaning to ask this myself. Been avoiding detailing the engine in fear of damaging something with water.

I'm always in admiration of your work man. You inspire me to wash my car every time I see a thread of yours.
For a full detail like this, how long does it take, from start to finish? |

I double bag shopping bags over my air intake and fuse box. That's it. As long as you don't shoot high pressure water directly on anything else you'll be fine. Remember when working in the engine bay you just want to let the water fall onto it. Quote:
I use a 10:1 dilution of APC (your ratio will vary depending on your APC.) I just mist it on and lightly agitate with a soft brush or microfiber. I don't think it's really 'needed' per se, but I always like to start from scratch when I reapply my dressing. Probably do this quarterly as well, depending on your dressing choice. Quote:
Absolutely will do. If I could just ask for a little patience I'm going camping tonight and wont have access to a computer. If I don't do it by Monday please PM me and bug me about it. That being said, everything in here save 2 or 3 products is in my product guide sticky. Quote:

Well my grandfather had emergency surgery today- so I canceled my camping plans to stay close.
Here are the links: GTechniq EXO v2 GTechniq Panel Wipe Note, this is NOT an IPA or Eraser replacement. This should ONLY be used before coatings. It's too strong to use on a regular basis. Sonax Polymer Net Shield

Couple of questions:
When you detailed your engine, did you use any trim products after using the APC? And what dilution for the APC. Did your Camaro have orange peel at all when you got it? And if so did you remove it? Also sorry to hear about your grandfather. Coincidentally my closest friend's grandfather just passed two days ago from a stroke.
