"premium recommended - not required"
I saw on some specs that a 2ss has premium gas recommended but not required...has anyone tried different octain fuel?

No but it will make your car operate on a low grade fuel trim table...so it will run terribly and feel less powerful.

How much does a 1LE cost? Are you really saying you want to save $4.80 a tank on a car that cost that much. I'm just saying. There are legitimate places to save money, my opinion is gas isn't one of them.

I know we are supposed to use "top tier" fuel, which i do.My question is this,Costco is now advertising"detergent"cleaning additive fuel.Is that basically what Shell,Chevron etc. is?

Costco sucks. I put their premium in once because I was close by, and my car didn't run right for a week. Put shell 93 in, pulled the fuses, ran perfect. Maybe they changed their fuel and added more detergents, but as of 2 months ago, it sucks.

I have had problems with gas from cheaper gas stations with new vehicles. My 1500 gmc Sierra hated it. Switch to Cheveron and Shell no problems since. That's all I use now or occasionally 76 if the others are not around when I need gas.

level of octain determines how fast the fuel burns...with higher compression engines youll need a slower burning fuel...faster burning fuel means bigger booms....so if in fact our engines don't require a slower burning fuel (premium) I would like to know...because if that's the case...we are losing power using the higher octain. |
