Superchargers
I'm thinking about supercharging my Camaro.
I have a 2010 2SS , L99 with approx. 2500 Mi/4000 Km. Borla Lt headers and exhaust, Air box and T1000 programer. I'm leaning towards an under hood roots/Eaton stye Magnacharger, E-Force or other. A local reputable shop (Dyno equipped) is recommending a centrifugal Procharger on the premiss that the roots styles are ripping off tires especially with the automatics because of boost range. I'm just looking for a very quick street car, not into competition yet. Any and all comments, advice, opinions, direction will be very appreciated ! THANK -YOU. |

The SLP 2300 is an excellent blower. I've never heard that about a roots type. They might be BSing you. Welcome to C5.

I just did the New SLP TVS 2300.
With your L99 and mods you would be looking at roughly 500rwhp on a safe tune!

Have a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT (auto) with a Procharger D1-SC (715rwhp) and a 2010 Camaro SS M6 with a Whipple 2.9 (657rwhp)
I can assure you both will smoke the tires if you get into them! I like both and believe it just comes down to your preference. That being said the Whipple is a twin screw blower which is a bit more efficient than an Eaton style Roots blower. I did my research on that piece of info. Enjoy your build |

They all smoke tires lol. Roots style blowers give you more boost down low. Probably what your tuner was talking about. They are all good, don't think you can make a bad choice. I will throw my 2 centz Maggie's way.

I went with the Maggie as well. Either way you cant go wrong. Like others have said, it all comes down to personal preference.

By ripping off tires I assume they mean you are spinning all over the place? Plenty of cars run the roots or twin screw without issue. I personally like a centri, I like to be able to drive around like its not there but when I want it it screams to life.
I was pushing 700+ @ the wheel on my DD with the ECS SC. Any kinda FI is an improvement over stock. For me, driveability was key, so a centri (ECS-Paxton) was the one I went with and I couldnt be happier. |

Roots type do produce more TQ down low off idle.
D1sc's are more linear, they are all gonna burn up those tires.

All tires can be changed to prevent "ripping them off"
My P Zeros were junk with the Supercharger. Switched to VReds and have had zero traction issues.

I can drive that way with my Maggie, even with 4.10 gears-- just gotta be easy on the throttle (<20% or so, so the bypass valve stays open and doesn't create boost, but push it just a little bit more and the instant torque is there; love it! ).
