There's no turning back now, just be glad you are able to own a car, much less a Camaro.

And they blame us, the consumer. Last I checked a decent Camaro costs half the price of a decent home, gas to drive around costs more than your electric bill and this isn't the year 2000, but if you factor in taxes they take that's the last time I got a raise.

Dang..decent homes must be a lot cheaper in Indiana than they are in Texas. Unless you guys pay near 100 clams for a decent Camaro.

If anyone is worried about where their engine was built...build one yourself. Pushrod V8. This isn't rocket surgery.

It must have changed somewhere along the way. I have a 2010 and my window sticker shows -

Country of Origin:
Engine: United States
Transmission: Mexico

U.S./Canadian Parts Content: 60%
Major Sources of Foreign Parts Content: Mexico 24%
Note: Parts Content does not include final assembly, distribution, or other non-parts costs.

2013 Auto.

What have we learned? That in a global economy, anything can come from anywhere.

"The American Automobile Labeling Act requires that each automobile manufactured on or after October 1, 1994, for sale in the U.S. bear a label disclosing where the car was assembled, the percentage of equipment that originated in the U.S. and Canada, and the country of origin of the engine and transmission. Any representation that a car marketer makes that is required by the AALA is exempt from the Commission’s policy. When a company makes claims in advertising or promotional materials that go beyond the AALA requirements, it will be held to the Commission’s standard." (Wikipedia)

I also know that the GM 6 speed auto in these cars and our Camaro's is made in Michigan at the GM Drivetrain plant.

I cannot find anything about Mexico, other than the LSA is assembled at the Silai GM engine plant.

Any GM guru's on here know anything about this mysterious Mexican LS3?
I thought the SS had the same drivetrain configuration as the Camaro. By that I mean that if it is an auto it has the L99. LS3 only available with manual.

Nope, all Chevy SS have a LS3 ... And starting for 2015 it will have MRC as standard and manual as an option.

nope, LS3 regardless of transmission choice, but because of that SS buyers get hit with the gas guzzler tax.

The AFM in the L99 is to get the automatic camaro below the threshold for that tax.

It matters to me big time. That means more Americans without work. Wish more people had pride in their country like I do. Then more would be as pissed as me and shit would change.

Unfortunately that includes the auto worker unions.
