But if you’re spinning it’s going to be a crappy run so I’d rather be conservative and work my way up.

Good luck at Cecil…it’s a fast track!

OK so the track was on kill and there was at the most 35 cars there! Got 5 runs in and my best run was a 1st gear launch. First time I have been able to get it too hook in first! Maybe the M/T pro 15 inch radial and a killer track prep! This was probably the last 1/4 mile run this car will see with me owning it! Gonna start the conversion back to a street car and start racing the 2019 COPO I purchased this winter.

1.41 on the sixty foot is good! Nice work and congrats!

So you're launching in 1st or 2nd and cutting timing? Didn't know the GM controller(s) could do that.

Congrats!! Ironic I went to the track as well but it didn't go so well. Track got reground but they couldn't get rubber down with rain most of the week so they called it a no prep and I spun the whole time working on my second gear launch.

I'm pretty sure he's saying to lower timing in the sub 5000/4500 rpm range to make less torque and to get the car to go down the track. Once it shifts it'll never be that low again to hurt you the rest of the pass. You could do this with any gear launch.

Launched in 1st gear with no timing being pulled.. First time I was able to do this. It was a Drag Radial test session and evidentially they prepped the crap out of the track!

This is the 1 and ONLY time I've been to this track and was able to launch in 1st gear! Usually i spin launching in 2nd and maybe 1 out of 4 runs i can get it to hook and go! There were 2000HP 1/8 mile cars at this deal so needless to say I was the slowest thing there! I wish I could have done a couple more and tried off idle in 1st. All these runs I was up on the converter about 2K.

Just a question, by why not use the torque limit by gear in the trans table?

I will let the smart people on here answer that question! I have someone that does all my tuning and he doesn't come to to the track with me.

If you're asking me, this build has not yet been on the track. I had to cancel my plans to go next week. I'm considering sending the car to someone like DD at sea level and having them test it if I can't make it.
