5000 miles!?!?!? Your car isn't even broke in yet...lol. Sounds like your car is a piece of art, so I would sit back and see where the new model goes in the next couple years. Different colors, special edition 50th, a Zxx model, etc. and let them get the quality control issues worked out too. That is just my opinion, but it is your money.

Tough decision for you I'm sure.

The Gen6 is better in almost every regard and since you don't drive much, the few areas of concern won't mean anything to you (rear seat, trunk space and visibility). With a fun toy that only gets driven on weekends, dry ones at that, these things are less than trivial.

The only issue I see is the financial aspects. You have what was and remains a truly nice car. And at this point either paid off or nearly so. So to step up to a new SS, you are looking at an extra $20,000?? My guess without checking values. You might find a special buyer for yours with the ULTRA low miles.

But if you want the best Camaro ever produced step up. The question will be if the few times you drive your car you are simply wishing you had a Gen6 then you need to pull the trigger.

But seriously, I don't think you can document "never driven in the rain" so not sure what value you hope that brings. That type of activity suggests you think that in 30 or 40 years your car is worth more some how. And if that was your plan then stick to it. Cuz if you are already 5 years into that plan and wanting a new Camaro, not driving it in the rain isn't adding any value and simply taking time from you driving it.

Good luck with the decision.

I agree at least wait for a 17 won't be long and be more worth the wait , QC issues are mounting with the 16

Thanks for all the info everyone. Sounds like I will be stepping up but definitely need to test drive first. Although if/when I make the move it's probably gonna be during the 50th anniversary. If I waited one more year and got the 1LE i probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Not driving in the rain is more of being weird and wanting to keep something nice since it's clearly not a daily driver. If I were to buy a used car i would want to buy a car from me. Whoever gets my car in the future is getting something very nice. Anyway, I love this forum thanks everyone, you will be first to know. Hopefully in about a year or so

Anyway, Im struggling to figure out if I want to keep what I have or trade in my 2012 IOM 2SS. I've done a few minor mods, splitter, C.A.I, single chambered my muffler, and added black gills. The biggest mod I did most recently, right before the weather changed was a set of Kooks long tube headers with high flow cats. Whats bumming me out is, after having the headers installed and a tune I'm only getting 399 RWHP. From what I'm seeing here on camaro 6 is the SS getting anywhere from 405 to 415 STOCK!! and its lighter.

I love my color (wish and hope they bring it back), it has just over 5,000 miles on it and its never been in the rain.

Do I bite the bullet and step up? It just seems like the gen 6 is a huge upgrade from the gen 5 without having to spend so much EXTRA money. I would think I would get a decent trade in on mine since it's practically brand new (see pics).

What would you do??

By the way, she sounds sooooo beautiful since putting those headers on.
For me I would think about the new one if I hadn't done the stuff that you did to the C5. I sat in the new one and it felt small. With the sun visor down I couldn't even see out of it. I know they are an incredible car but your 5 is really nice and probably won't drop much in value now that it took it's biggest drop already.

5k miles? Just garage it and get the 16. Best of both worlds.

Aftermarket mods don't typically increase value of a car and can in some cases even hurt it. But in your case, this is an extremely low mileage example. It couldn't hurt to wait a year or two and see if something a little bit nicer comes in the pipeline. You probably won't see a dramatic change in value from wherever your car currently is.
