I figure it this way. I will be sure that I have a pool and good working A/C. Then, on those oppressive humid days, I can hang inside. I have always preferred heat to cold.

Anything to get away from these Siberian conditions up North!!

Tennessee is a beautiful state, but they still get too much cold for me. We visited Nashville last year and were very impressed with all of the little joints downtown with the music and all, lots of fun.

I have never seen so many hat stores and boot stores in one city....LOL

I grew up on country music. But now days it is really getting to suck. Don't take this wrong a lot of good country singers. It's the new dress code I guess. Ball caps some worn backwards. Work boots and all the tattoes. And for some dam reason a lot of the male singers just cant seem to keep their hands off their crotch. But it seems to be done in all types of music.

The humidity along the coast line isn't near as bad as it is inland. The freezing line is usually above I-4. I'm in Jacksonville now but plan to retire in the Daytona Beach area. It's 28 here now with a SLOW warming trend on the way. I need more firewood!

Richard — do you have to use 2x8 or 2x10 studs to get enough insulation for that kind of cold. The coldest I have ever seen is -28 c here in Illinois. It rarely gets under -10 were I am at.

most of the walls here at the cottage are 2x4 construction , our addition is 2x6 What we did was when we stripped walls to the studs was to reinsulate on the inside , then insulate on the outside of the plywood walls, before wood siding was put on . All new windows and doors were added with 18 inches of insulation in the attic ...

We use the wood stove for heat most of the time with a backup propane furnace. I am glad that at our other place we put a new high efficiency furnace in at the end of November , it replaced the mid efficiency one that was in for 26 yrs . I have noticed that it is much hotter and we can turn the thermostat down and feel comfortable ..

Today while using the tractor to clean up the snow I had both heaters on with one window cracked open , normally I only have one heater on with the window open ,,,,

this week is supposed to go back to more normal temperatures and more snow .

Have a good week folks and stay warm

We got all the way up to 43 today. Supposed to get some precipitation tomorrow. Reports are back & forth if it will be frozen, mixed or all rain. I'm just hoping for only rain & that they won't spray that brine crap. I had promised I was not going to drive on it at all this year but as luck would have it, Mike has to take his mother to Nashville to see her specialist MD (so he can't take me in) and as many days as I have been off work, if schools are indeed open I need to go in. Grrrrr!

Wow, so cold where y'all are living.

Highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's here. However, it is going to rain here tonight.

Well people Broke a record here in Syracuse N.Y. yesterday 62 degrees. Melted all the snow. And what a hell of a turn around in 24 hrs. This morning back to the deep freeze 10 above wind chill -2 below. 10 to 14 inches of new snow.

Welcome to Global warming.
