Best drag radial on gen6

Has anyone tried a 305 35 r 20 nitto on a stock rim , or is the 275 40 r 20 a safer bet ?

Or all cards on the table put a set of 18 or 16 inch rims with larger sidewall Drag radials for street strip duty ? Your thoughts....

My experience with the slicks on my gen 1 not withstanding .

Best setup with the stock brakes (4 piston) is a 17" rim and a MT ET Street R in a 305

Im looking at your specs do you guys pick up that much off running e85 and header swap ?
11.60s vs 11.00 those are good numbers .

And thanks for the tip on the 17 inch rims , im wondering if I can squeeze a 305 nitto on a stock ss rim

Yes those 2 mods were worth about 45 rear wheel (412/400 vs 455/440). There are guys that have gone 11.0 with the factory exhaust on E85 .There are plenty of guys running a 305 on the stock 20's the only thing is there is a wire harness on the drivers side under the liner that needs to be relocated to prevent rubbing. Straight forward easy job to do

Trying to find a "best of both worlds" tire is going to leave you a little disappointed, especially down the 1320. Once you start upping the power then it becomes even trickier on a hybrid DR.

I couldn't fully hit the tire on my 20" setup so I am taking JFM's advice and stepping up to the 17" MT-R for next year. Sweet 1st gen btw

I think the best drag radials are the Mickey Thompson ones no matter the size of rim.

I ran a 6.48 at 113 with a 1.60 60’ on a 305/35/20 on stock wheels and there was some left in that 60’. That is likely a 9sec pass.

Next I will be stepping up to 325/50/15’s

You have To decide how hard you want to push it and choose to stick with 20’s or run 17’s or do the brake kit and run some 15’s

I've heard that the 275/40/17 MT ET Street Rs will hook pretty well even if you have mods. It is also a 26" tire, so it gives you a lower effective gear ratio.

However, unlike the Street S/S, the ET Street Rs do not come in 20".

Great advice guys . Im thinking of probably buying a 2nd or even a third set of wheels .

Thanks again. I'll keep you updated. Friday night I went 1.8 50 ft ( 12.2 quarter ) on walmart special Nextel su1 tires which are worse than Goodyear run flats in my convertible .

Thanks buddy I've gone 7.50s @ 185 with a BBC on 3 systems in my first gen camaro
I think Im leaning towards the 17 inch rim with a good Ultra Drag radial on it for my 6gen
