So where are the gears at?

Is it just me or does absolutely no one make gears for these cars? Anyone have any info on this?

Richmond says their gear should fit... I thought the car needed gears but full bolt on there is no traction to be had, unless you are building a 1/4 mile car and want an exact speed / RPM thru the traps with a set height slick... worth .1 or so I doubt if many will go to gears, plus the steeper the gear the smaller the tooth contact the weaker the setup overall. For instance it would be near impossible to snap the 2.77 pinion on the auto's 8.6 ring and pinion setup. But if you went to say 4.10 or 4.33 you would be looking at 40% reduction in pinion size and then it gets that much easier to lollipop the pinion. The old 10 bolt 7 and 3/4 tinkertoy rear with 2.73s had about the same surface area as a 4.11 in a Ford 9"... all in all there is little reason to spend $500 on the gear as there is no direct performance advantage.

I don't know how the 1LE will do in the autoX I'd think it would be a leave it in 2nd the whole way... out of the exit at 34 MPH the engine would be at 2750. I can see a cam with close lobe centers around 110 with 230 duration and maybe LT 1 and 5/8 to bring up the midrange, definitely would do the ported stock intake manifold for the much stronger 3000 to 5000 torque.

I think a 4.10 will help M6es run faster in the 1/4. 4th gear is too tall. Keep in mind the 5th gen 1LE with the same transmisson was given a 3.91.

A bolton SS needs DRs on the street as you said. ^ Mine holds just fine.

I would be in for a 3.91 personally. I also think our gears are just too tall hence all the 1st 3rd 5th shifting. A lot of speeds around me are 55 mph. I'm constantly switching between 5th and 6th for hills and its just fking annoying. 3.91 should have been the stock gear from the get go.

I was thinking along the lines of a 3.91. 4.10 might be a little too short for street duty. 3.91 would be a fun street gear, better at the drag strip and probably be a hindrance and the road course

I disagree. And the 1LE tires were about the same height as the CA6 SS. See below. I also think the new SS M6 has the bigger output shaft and yoke that the 1LE had.

CA6 SS M6 = 143 in 4th, 5TH Gen 1LE 138 in 4th. A 4.10 would make it more like 133-132. When I changed my 5th gen 1LE gearing down to the ZL1s 3.73 the car felt noticably more sluggish and was .1+ seconds slower in the 1/4.

Had Richmond 3.73's on my 5th Gen and was very pleased with the results.

There are gears out there that might fit, but no one brave enough to try. The vendors aren't talking. Not enough people interested in going faster with the 6th gen SS Camaro. It is fast out of the box I guess.
