Display was dead this morning
2017 with the base cluster. This morning, did a remote startup (it was 32 degrees outside). When I got in the car and hit the start button, the 7" display was off and non-responsive to any input. Shut the car off and restarted same. Not even the backup camera. Drove to the store, and when I came out, all was back to normal.
Anyone experienced this? Possibly related to the system update I see mentioned in a prior thread? |

I know they just rolled out an update recently. Maybe it had something to do with that

Mine has done this now and then in cold temps since I bought it Sept 2016, and I have the 8" screen... mine came with Android Auto from the dealership, no updates since I've had it that I know of. My guess is the head units are sensitive to temperature, but who knows. Hopefully not a bad solder issue like the BCM in the 4th gens back in the day....still dealing with that in our 01 T/A...

Pull the display fuse in the trunk. Open the door so the display would otherwise turn on so you quickly drain any power in it. Close the door and go put the fuse back. You should be good to go.
If you don't have success, there's a good chance of a hardware issue. Loose connection somewhere or botched update. |

Mine stays black for about ten minutes and then comes on, resets all the dash gauges too when it's around 33 degrees or lower. It's been in the teens/ 20's the past few days and the car has to sit and warm up for ten minutes at least before my display works. It does not like the cold at all. I hate that it does this. It's fine when it's around 35 degrees and warmer.

If its going black random then that is signs that the HMI module is failing. i would go back to the Dealership ASAP and get it logged so they know its failing and can order you a new one.
