Annoyed with GM

I've been under the hood a couple of times of my 1LS (it feels so roomy under there...my last Camaro was a V8!).

Around 3,000 miles when I did my first uber-preventative and completely unnecessary oil change, I wiped up what looked like brake fluid around the edge of the reservoir seam when I went through and checked all the fluids. Hoping it was a fluke, I removed the cap, wiped up the fluid, cleaned the silicone seal, and reinstalled the cap.

Now at just under 5k, the brake fluid around the reservoir seam is back again.

This was a problem on earlier 5th gens. A problem I thought GM had corrected with a revised cap and/or seal.

WTF GM, this has been a reportable issue going on 5 years now.

They're just like every other US company except for Apple. They push out shit to get money and turn the other way when you call em on it.

stop crying and go find the revised cap and seal and fix it. No one is perfect, imagine if people bitched as much about other consumer products as they do about cars!? seriously

Mine isn't leaking anywhere, so there must be properly made products out there.

and I can't believe no one has called out the guy on his their, they're and there mistake. Where are the grammar police tonight?

The last cap I fixed? I cut apart a Livestrong bracelet (silicone) into a thin strip and placed it between the cap and the factory seal. It provided enough loft to make the cap seal real tight. Never leaked again.

I'm all out of Livestrong bracelets.

Point is, when I spend money to buy a new car, it's expected that stupid shit like brake fluid reservoir caps hold the fluid inside.

This is my 10th GM (Chevrolet!) vehicle so I'm not exactly surprised, but I've had higher expectations since Liquidation Motors Corp folded in 2009 and GM promised to turn over a new leaf with the new corporation thereafter.

Thank you... I was racking my brain trying to come up with things I could improvise with. A milk jug cap is something I've got. silicone bracelets to cut apart, not so much. Those Livestrong bracelets kind of disappeared after the whole Lance debacle.

This is the first time I've heard of a brake leak in the 5th Gens..
Maybe this is a stupid question, but why are you fixing it yourself? It's a brand NEW car.. Take it in for warranty work.

When car companies look at warranty claims as well as customer complaints from the dealer, they act on repeat trouble items. My car is a 2011 maybe they have fixed this problem by the 2012 model year. I just noticed you have a 2014..i guess its still a problem.
