How much is it to completely paint a car?

I found the perfect SS near my home. Uber low miles, perfect price, Fully loaded. Carfax checked out. The guy put a HUGE down payment on it initially from money he was given as a gift. He has to move, can't take the car, and he wants to get rid of it (long story). He showed me what he owed on it and he just wants that paid off. Kinda laid back guy I knew from school.

Problem is its blue. I really wanted black. Yes, I can look for a black SS but I was wondering.

How much is it to professionally paint a car a different color? I'm talking factory quality or close to it with clear coat, not orange-peel-city Maaco.

Google came back $2k. Is this true based on your experience?

to have the car completely redone, interior, glass, engine, i mean everything out, basically body in white, painted CORRECTLY and reassembled, i hear 10k. This is why my car has not been repainted because factory paint sucks.

$7,500 - $11,000 depending on paint and how far you want to go with it. Might as well do a custom color for that price or Look into wrapping the car instead.

Buy it! You will learn to love the Blue Ray Metallic. It looks black in certain lighting and you can't beat the color (okay yes you can, but its a very nice color) in the sunlight! It sure grabs people's attention and you can still "black it out", if that is what you decide to do with it. It is almost like Ashen Gray... You can have a dark color and murder it out, and still not have to worry about the swirls as much as you would on the non-metallic black paint.

Not a bad idea! 10k is not worth it.

I saw some vinyl wraps that looked pretty good. Wonder how they will hold up in the salt and snow.

Black SS's are a dime a dozen. Like every other SS is Black, you should wait to find one in Black. Seriously just did an Autotrader search within a 200 mile radius from me & there's 134 Black SS's out there. Don't ruin a beautiful car with a somewhat rare color because you want an SS in a color that everyone, their brother, and their grandma has.

When I wanted Imperial Blue I waited to find one in that color & one that was exactly what I wanted.
