Tough Choice!!

Ok, hardest choice I've made in a long time!! Maybe someone can offer insite!! I love my 2010 Black 2SS RS!!! But it has 97k on it and we've been through ALOT!!! But she is my baby!! However I've the chance to trade in on a 2012 IOM 2SS RS w/ ground effects and all that is brand new and under 100miles on it!! The deal would actually lower my payments(while extending them). Love my black beast, but should I let her go? Pickup the HUD and backup camera and a warranty again, but is it worth it? Should I try to hold for a 2014 (can't decide if I like it!!)?? Once over 100k I'm sure my value will drop and this car is brand new still and marked down like $9K!!! Black is just sooooo sexy!!! Any tips???

Only you can decide that one. For what it is worth, IOM looks incredible. And it is waaay easier to take care of than black!

On a side note, how is your car holding up at that many miles?

My tip is...keep your 2010...and link me to the '12 IOM in a pm please

You can do that if you want BUT for real...trading up to a 12 is nearly trading in for the same car. I would at least get a 2013 1LE or a 2014 1LE. If you upgrade to a 2011-2014 ss....you're still going to be getting nearly the same car. A 1LE however....completely different.

Thanks! Actually the car is holding up really well! I just replaced the brakes this weekend for the first time. I did have an engine failure at 73k (valve spring broke!!) but that was all replaced under warranty, so the new one only has like 25k on it! Otherwise, everything is working great!!

Love the car! Man, 97K miles in 3 to 4 years...it took me 7 with my old car just to get to 80K. :( The 2014 are nice, but I'm still not a fan of those tail lights...I'll go w/ the 2012. You're pushing it w/ the miles...however, if your 2010 is nearly paid off, then heck yes, keep the 2010 and add the extra stuff! Save up the $.

The biggest decision you face IMO is whether you love the 2012 SS you found and couldn't care about 2014's because you love the car you found or whether if you buy the 2012 and see 2014's when they come out that you'll be kicking yourself for not holding out and getting a 2014. The 2014's are on the outside going to be a bit different and new. But I think the 2010-2013 model years are going to remain the most popular. The 2014 model is love or hate. That's a decision you will have to make. Finding a new 2012 leftover is not a dime a dozen, though getting a 2013 of the same should be easier if you choose to wait for the 2014's to hit showrooms first before deciding. Your 2010 you've got now probably still has a lot left in it at 97k miles. You may in the mean time want to read up on the 2014's and make sure that there's not any features or lack of certain exterior colors that ultimate will deter you from it.

So does anybody think that a 2010 with over 100K miles would start to exponentally loose value? I'm just afraid that if I don't trade now I won't have the value in it to trade in a year or two. I've got 2 years of payments left on it. Honestly if this one was black I'd likely have made the choice! Going to see it in person in just a bit so will see how I feel about it then. Just uneasy on the switch to IOM as much as anything I think. Thanks for all the tips guys!!!

Did you read the post? It is brand new...

I think that is a really good point for those that may be considering a trade, I don't personally care so much for the refresh, but I'd say yeah, look for a 1LE or if you don't want that then a 2014 SS would be different from what you have.

I don't know, it'll take an act of God, as in a tree coming down it, for me to ever get rid of my car.

With 2 years left in payments and the high miles, you will lose value for sure in your car and if you have 97k miles now, add w more years and your gonnabeat 150k miles, your car won't be worth much at all. I would trade up if you can or look for a 13 as the deals are out there and the mylink is nice.

Orange is sweet, mylink is just ok. Obviously up to you but sounds like you have found a pretty good deal, will you be in the same situation with the 2012 in few years? It is hard to build any equity in a car when you put on that many miles. Don't forget that 2012, while still new in miles, is basically a 2 year old car as far as depreciation goes. I can tell you the IOM is awesome in the sun and hides dirt very well.
Good luck, hope it all works out.
