Question What is the purpose of this screw behind the bumper support?

As I was taking my front bumper off, I noticed two screws, one on each side pretty far behind the bumper support that were only half way in and completely loose. They are the black large screws that you see in the middle of the picture. I tightened it with my hand until both sat flush with the metal, so it isn't free flowing and turning any longer. What is the purpose of these screws?

This is the passenger side.

This is the drivers side, and in the picture it's the one next to the filter.

But there's only one washer bottle, so that wouldn't explain them being symmetrically placed on both sides of the vehicle...

I am guessing they don't do anything. The bolts probably were part of the assembly line process of holding the frame and body to the conveyor.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. I am definitely curious as to what these screws were/are for. I took them out initially just to see if anything would come out, whatever that may be, lol. Nothing occured, so I screwed them all the way to the metal and completely tight. I thought maybe it was something for the intercooler, but it isn't. Hmm, I wonder if Fbodfather knows. I thought it was interesting that there are two identical screws, one on each side in the same location. Like was said above, I wonder if it was something that was used in the assembly line. Extra ground bolts makes sense too, even though they aren't the easiest to get too unless the bumper is taken off.

Some of the comments cracked me up. I wish these were warp drive adjustment screws, or car downforce, LOL. Wouldn't that be nice, ha-ha.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone would actually take a look at his car to see what they might be used for and answer the OP's question ?

I would if I still had my 2011 SS, but I don't, I now have a ZL1 and I doubt if they're the same in this regard.

I believe it is for one of these but I may be wrong. 1.21 Jigawatts is a lot, but put 2 of these bad boys on

On an older car, that is where the bumper shocks were bolted to the frame. Since these cars don't have bumper shocks, I have no idea.

Since the OP already has the bumper cover off his car, maybe he could do some further investigation and let the rest of us know what they are for. I can't even see them on my car.
