Rpm gauge jumping everywhere? Anyone else experience this

Since I have had the car it would do it randomly when I first got it, now it is doing it every time I drive. The engines rpm is not jumping around just the gauge

Yes A8. Just called dealership and was told the wiring harness was touching a pulley and caused everything to go "wacky". Not sure if that's the problem but I will update.
