Just doing what 1LE’s were meant to do

Just thought I’d share some pics from the last TNiA of the season at Pitt Race last month. These cars are such a blast, but their heft is definitely a major detriment. Nonetheless, still always a great time out there. This year was actually the first I’ve been on a road course - I fell for it so hard that I did it three times Can’t wait until Spring!

Looking good man, seeing you pull up on that C3 reminds me how big these girls are. I'm really used to her size and she's nimble as hell, then a Vette pulls up and the has station and I remember she's a fatty. LoL

Tell me about it! You get used to it - especially in a sea of SUVs and crossovers - but these things are huge, especially compared to any other generation. It’s to be expected I supposed since it’s a shortened sedan. GM did well making it work as best they could, that’s for sure.

Yes they are a blast. My first time out I remember being amazed at how well she handled especially for as heavy as she is.

Once bit you are now doomed to upgrades and much pleasure.

Enjoy.

It’s bad. I can’t tell my wife how much it actually costs - she thinks it’s no different than drag racing on test and tune night

Great looking car! Crop and adjust that 1st photo and I think you've got something suitable for the garage (or in my case the family room) wall. If I didn't have a Z/28 I'd have a 1LE. Lotta bang for the buck.

Z/28 is one hell of a machine especially for this chassis. I’ve beat up on them, but they’ve also beat up on me

I didn't manage a Z/28 when they were new but I'm comfortable a 1LE can be damned near as good if not better.

When I’ve had point-bys from Z/28’s, it’s the driver of a Z/28 not being as confident as they could be compared to the capabilities of their car. The Z/28 (and ZL1 for that matter) are on another level.

With my power mods, hanging with them on the straights isn’t a problem, but a good driver who knows braking and going into the turns will whoop a 1LE

Brakes and suspension are the real advantages but those both have to be upgraded to be there with them.

I'm smack talking to a certain degree because I've upgraded my car but not to Z/28 level. Power wise I'm somewhere between a Z/28 and a ZL1 suspension and brake wise I'm somewhere between a ZL1 and a Z/28.

Probably would have saved money had I just bought a damned Z/28... lol

I have more stuff coming too... lol

That’s funny you mentioned saving more $$ with just buying a Z28. I was that way with my 14’ V6 and was going to put more into it then snapped out of it, bought a Z28 then sold my V6.

As for me beating anyone with my Z28, that most likely won’t happen because I suck. I love to get on it on the street but I just haven’t put anytime on a track to push the car. Maybe someday, but I love watching everyone else do it and I’m the gear head in the garage fixing them before and after.

Seat time, seat time, seat time! Not sure where in Ohio you’re at, but you’ve got some road course options. I’d like to get to Nelson Ledges next year as that’s closest to me outside of my home track.

I’m not that great, either, being that I just got into it this year. It’s a very supportive racing community for all levels, so you don’t have to worry about being looked down on or anything. Everyone is just glad you’re out driving your car the way it was engineered to be. Track Night in America is super low key and a great way to get your feet wet. I’m going to be looking at actual HPDEs for next season so that I can work on getting half decent.
