Cruise the Black Hills

Hundreds of thousands of people come to the Black Hills every year for the world famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and to enjoy the amazing scenery and great riding. For those that haven't been to this event its a great family friendly time. There are plenty of events to keep you busy as well as guided tours through the hills during the poker runs.

Check out some of these great roads to drive/ride... BTDT, and they are great!!!

Although I've never done Sturgis, I always stayed in Spearfish a couple weeks before it.

it is a very scenic area year round. Yes winter sucks most of the time, but it is amazing once the roads are cleaned. I'm lucky enough to live in Rapid City (about 20 mins south of Sturgis) so I get to enjoy it all year. Yes, even during the winter LOL.

Whether it Bikes, Cars, snowmobiles, ATVs, Jeeps what ever the Black Hills has something for everyone. Not to mention the 100s of miles of hiking trails and about 20 lakes for those water lovers.

Hi Dave.... Question for you. Unfortunately I am in constant pain, I have 5 different types of arthritis so It is hard for me to plan anything because of my pain.
Will we benefit and enjoy this event if I am feeling good and just show up with
out registering? I am questioning what we will miss out on.

We have been to the bike rally quite a few times and really enjoyed all of the rides when we took our bikes. We always stayed at the Rafter J at Hill City, Love that resort!!!

Thanks for any information Dave.....

Personally that could be up in the air, registering gives you access to all the events (see the official website). There is still plenty of amazing things to see in the hills and registration is open until Saturday morning (i believe).

you would be able to watch all the events, will have to buy your own drag racing spectator pass at drag strip. But would not be able to partake in the organized runs, after hours items, and the banquet.

We have many people that pre register every year and then about double that just show up and register once they get here.

Yes, unfortunately we hold our event EVERY last full weekend in June each year and quite a few other venues have moved to this timeframe as well. We thought about moving it a bit this year but with July 4th weekend the following week, we didn't figure that would go over well due to many traveling to be with family.
