Car show BS !!!!!!
So my self and 7 of my friends go to a car show to today with our Camaros . The show was advertised for any make any year all cars welcome ... So when we got there we saw a allot of modern mussel cars .. It was nice. There where allot of very well done and unique modern cars right along side the oldies. The cars that where there where made up of 50% modern (2005 to 2014) and 50% oldies ( 1975 ans earlier) and there where like 3 or 4 cars from the 80s . But when it came to trophy time not one trophy went to a car over 1970 and i was a little put off . Not because my self or any of my buddies did not win . It was because it was apparent the judges where only interested in the old cars. Which is fine if that what it is an (oldies show ) . It was almost like they just wonted us there to collect the $15 registration fee . Next year will we be skipping that show because if you are going to advertise the show is for modern cars as well as oldies they should have a trophy or too go to that group as well. Believe me there where more then a few modern cars there that where worthy of a trophy . They where just over looked because of the year there cars where made .

I tend to agree if it's not advertised as a classic car show then the awards should be distributed evenly without regards to year model... however, trophy or not I still have a blast at a car show... it's generally the last thing on my mind at the end of the day.

The last 3 car shows I went to this year like 95 % of the cars that won were pre 1970.
At shows a lot of people go in groups and vote on each others cars.If you think about it a little its a lot harder to maintain and keep an older car nice then a brand new one. |

They didn't know what they were doing obviously, sucks and the organizers should have been informed so if they ever put on another car show they have more success.

My brother in law does a lot of shows with his Corvette. One thing he has always said is that the locals will get the awards. If it is a big show drawing from many cities, you have a chance, but if it is a local show put on by a local car club, their members are going to win.

New cars are cool. But old cars rule. Hard to fight against nostalgia.

Unless there's a "modern Muscle" class at the show these new Camaros don't deserve
a trophy imo. Maintaining &/or restoring an old classic car is a lot harder than doing some mods and detailing your new car for a show.

They should have separate classes for the newer cars. Just to keep things fair. Our local club goes to a show every year and last year I went and displayed my car. I didn't expect to win anything I just went for the experience. However they had categories and then did "nicest blue car" and all other colors as well. It's nice to have a bunch of different categories.

Nothing personal, but I don't quite understand taking new cars to a car show, and its even sillier to expect a trophy.

If it's a show for classics then modern cars shouldn't feel entitled to a trophy. If it's a show for both then there should be 2 categories then trophies leading to best overall cars. If it's a show for modern cars then well classics should feel entitled to at least one trophy after all it's not easy keeping up a 40-50 year old car.

That's just the way things go. To be fair there is usually a greater implied effort behind a classic show car (restoration AND maintenance). There's still plenty of shows left in the year I'm sure you'll find a good one to snatch at least a plaque from.
