I bet its fast....

My Camaro sits infront of my business everyday. I usually receive a few comlpiments, followed by I bet its fast...Is it fast?....How fast is it?....Whats the horsepower?.... etc....etc.

If I drive my Vette I get a compliment or two, but no on ever asks how fast it is. Usually they tell me about their 78, 80, 92, 66, 59,....etc. Vette

This is not meant to be A Vette vs Camaro thread, just my observations of the way people percieve the two cars.....

I think it's just everyone knows the Vettes are quick. No need to ask if they are. 5th Gen Camaros just peak peoples curiousity I think.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Most people assume that ALL vettes are fast, even the older ones that aren't as fast as a new Camaro SS.

I know what you mean. When I had my Porsche people rarely said anything, but with the camaro, people talk to me all the time. I think the camaro reaches so many audiences, older people and younger. It is more attainable than a Porsche or a new Vette, so they can identify with it better.

PS--love your wheels!

I think a lot of people are unsure about how fast it is because of its size. They have fast styling and look like they should be fast but they are just so big... I find it best to put them in the passenger seat and then they don't have to ask any more. They just get to try on the permagrin for a few hours!

It's the same reason so many dbags ride up on your ass, fly by, rev at you and mess with you. People never do that with Vettes, Porches or even other generation Camaros.

I think you hit it on the head here.

No need to ask if a Vette is fast.

Funny thing is, my car will beat a stock late 70's vette (know a guy whose '79 runs 14.5 in the quarter). But some people consider the V6 slow. Since people KNOW all Vettes are fast, and my slow six will beat some of them...

Is it really slow?

When you start getting into 25+ year old cars, I don't have the "must be fast" perception, but maybe that's just me.

Technology and times have changed since then.
