First time 1/4mi stock 1SS

I don't have pics yet.

Track PBIR in south Florida.

Prep - atrocious??? Let 60ft times on cars

Don't have a way to post pics yet. But I will if the time slips.

Best run -

ET 12.523
RT .836
60' 2.166
330'
1/8 8.249
1/8 mph 90.92
1000' 10.566
1/4mph 114.71

DA per airdensityonline.com was 1,400

Have some slips of vette getting 1.78 60s with drag pack.

I even had 2.3 60ft

If I just eased into the throttle I would spin out. But not too bad.
Tires at 20psi rear. 34 front.

After 930 they prep the track for drag slicks only session.

Shitty setup. But the best I can do for now.

I also have to learn more about the car. Try to get a 2.0 60' maybe run a 12.4/12.3.

Also looking forward to January and February when it's 50 degrees for a couple days and get better ties possibly.

Time slip pictures

A simple google search showed me that I could add pictures to the site without a third party like photo bucket.

Thank you to the site admins and owner for allowing this.

Pictures take up space.

Space cost money.

Yes!

Was fun.

Somewhat nervous feeling.

Feel like I need practice. Couldn't always do what I wanted at the line.

For example, I don't do burnouts in competitive drive mode. I do them with just traction control off. Then I set the car for competition mode. Issue is I was pulling up to the staging and almost went too far. Had to hit the brakes on the second light. Then I forogt to get into the launch.

I was rushing myself. In reality I should set what I want after I burnout before I pull up to stage. But I just wanted to move along and keep things smooth.

This is the only 1/4mi track from key west up to west palm beach.

There's an 1/8 that isn't prepped.

You get 4 runs in. 5 if you get lucky and arrive at the front of the line because someone didn't know how many lanes they had (I had a friend who was there before and lane 1 was empty).

So from 6-10pm (usually it ends at 930 to prep track for the "real cars") I got 5 runs in. My friend who goes a lot said 3 is the norm. 4 is great and 5 is cheating.

So you wait and wait. No crashes. No spilled oil or car breaking.

But it was still fun. Good atmosphere. Most people were nice. Some even wanted to take my money (race for money).

So I had a good time.

And look forward to going again.

Beats the speeding tickets.

Can't agree with with you more - it's such an adrenaline rush. It gets it out of my system so I drive more reserved on the street. I just got into drag racing this year, and I think it's all about repetition. Get a couple good runs in, and then experiment. My PB was without launch control early in the day when the track was still very sticky. I left off of idle, but then could not duplicate. At one drag strip, I would typically get two to three runs in a night. Went to a different one and got in 17 and had lots of opportunity to experiment.

I understand the rushed feeling and try to get everything as much as possible set up before I do the burnout.

Here's the sequence I follow (I'm interested in comments on this from members):
  • Before pulling onto the track, get into TRACK mode
  • Double tap traction control to get into competitive mode - check that both TC and Stability Control lights on dash are lit.
  • Drive around water box
  • Shift A8 into manual 1st gear.
  • Do light or medium burnout, depending on weather temperatures
  • Shift out of 1st gear and back to automatic. (forgot this part once - haha)
  • Pre-stage with right foot on brake
  • Wait for other racer to pre-stage
  • Stage with left foot on brake and then press brake hard
  • Wait for other racer to stage
  • Jamb gas pedal hard
  • Release brake when 2nd amber goes out and 3rd starts to come on.
  • Keep car in middle of track.
Keep everyone updated with your progress. There is lots of support here.

Bill

Did a similar thing once, when I used LC.

And I let it go at the third amber light. Had my best time on that.

When I let it
Go at the second amber light I didn't log a 60ft on my slip, I think I left too soon?

Either way, good time.

Idk if the timer starts when my car is loading up and trying to move forward when the tires are spinning.

Is it an inch of movement 6"? Idk what the threshold is.
And another

Nice mph. I was out there but not with the Camaro. Best I did last year all stock was 12.3 at 114.5. Never really good air. Little disappointed seeing how others run but I never saw a stock 6th gen run much faster at PBIR. I went out there a couple weeks ago on a Sunday and track really sucked for street tires. Guess I need some rear tires/wheels. I had the firebird Friday but it broke before I even ran.

Was it on a trailer?

Think I saw one on a trailer.

And thank you for confirming a beginners thoughts.

To me the track was shit. Spinning at idle launch. Launch control. Spinning tires 3rd to 4th as well.

Just like I was on the street.

I should be there the December 1 for test and tune. Hoping for 5 runs.

All stock at that point still.
