Is it bad to take my car to the beach?
Like for the paint and underbody?

No more so than any other car that gets driven on the beach. Just wash the undercarriage after you're back and you'll be fine. -- with the obvious thoughts towards watching for loosely packed sand, wet sand, trenches, the tide, etc. Unless you plan on living on the beach, you won't be out there long enough to do any damage to the car just being there... I drive through the winter here in Chicago and that subjects me to all manner of road salts.... In fact, most of my real cosmetic damage has occurred on the highway just driving along or trying to park and hitting the bumpers.
I've taken it on a couple different beaches myself over the years w/o issue.. The picture below was at McFaddin Beach in South East Texas. I've also been on the beach in FL and I think in MS/AL as well. On the Ferry going across Mobile Bay. Only real problem here was ground clearance issues trying to board, but that's my fault and not a beach issue. Also was fine at one of the Forts in Pensacola Beach, FL. Yes, the chassis will rust and the paint will flake off immediately.
