2016 Camaro ZL1 vs. 2014 Camaro Z/28 Nurburgring Video Overlay
Seeing a time is one thing, but to visually see the distance the 6th gen ZL1 puts on the 5th gen Z/28 is a completely different thing. I did this with the 2014 Z/28 & 2012 ZL1, figured I'd do it here too.
Enjoy.

17 ZL1 what a car....

Sweet video ... they were close until the rain set in. Cool to see them side by side.

Not bad for the Z28. I mean it has 145 less hp than the new ZL1. Obviously both monsters.

Wow, that's a great comparison. It looks like the new ZL1 was ahead but the Z/28 closed back and might have been ahead when the rain hit. The new ZL1 definitely would have reopened the gap on the long straight but there is no doubt that rain took 4-5 seconds from the Z/28. The new ZL1 is a beast but I have new found respect for the 5th gen Z/28 after watching this.

Very nice. Seems like the Z/28 carries higher speed in most of the turns.

The Z/28 was able gain once they entered the tighter slower sections due to its superior late deeper braking from the CC's and front end grip from the 305 Trofeo's along with aero downforce which allows it to carry more speed in these sections.
The winged warrior that we've seen testing will carry on this tradition but to greater heights when we finally see what she is capable of.

Z28 was ahead by a second or two until the rain hit. I can't imagine how rowdy it was on trofeo's and a wet track going into the long straight.

I think the ZL1 still would have had the ol' Z/28 up the back stretch rain or not. But the gap would have been significantly less. The gen 6 just out muscled it. Both pretty amazing cars.
