What size headers to go with cam??

Later this summer(June or July) I am thinking of sending my car over to MTI Racing to have a cam swap done. I was just wondering what size headers I should put on with it. Here are the details of the swap: Car is a daily driver, was thinking of putting in a stage 2(since a stage 1 is not that much louder than stock). Right now I have Borla S-Type Axle back and a Halltech CAI.

So what do you think?? MTI only has 1 7/8 on their website.

Thanks for any input.

1 7/8 all the way.

please do not put 1 3/4 headers on your car. this has been discussed many times before. I have yet to see a legitimate reason to put a 1 3/4 header on any setup for these cars (providing a 1 7/8 is an option)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure, because some people said 1 3/4 was better with a cam. And is headers and a cam too loud for daily driving??

Those are the people that you don't want to take car advice from.

It kind of depends on the specs of your cam. In all honestly, it shouldn't. I daily drive my car, and it has 1 7/8 longtubes, no cats, 3" kooks exhaust, and a decent sized cam on a tight lsa.

Checkout the Texas Speed 1 7/8 exhaust system, it's complete from front to back of the car & sell for a awesome deal! Checkout my older posts with dyno, pics & sound clips!

FYI, I have a 10 second car that currently has 1 3/4 headers. I'd just go with what the builder wants to use.

i have the thorley long tubes that are 1 3/4" and i'll tell ya.. it made a HUUUGE difference in power and sound from my ADM offroad downpipes. WOW! Lovin it.. and dont let an installer do it.. i had mine installed and test driven in under 2 hours and I am no mechanic but i know my way around a garage and tools. :-)

I am also doing a 112LSA cam that is a monster as well.

who spec'd your cam?

and i'm assuming since you don't have heads, that you did not check ptv clearance? if you did, what was it?

and how much power did you put out, if you dont mind me asking?

Danhr, I was just busting your balls. If I knew that I was going to do a blower there is no doubt that I would have choosen at least an 1 7/8" or even a 2". I still think about changing them to a larger size daily. Last year when I got them I was still a bolt on car. I know that I'm leaving something on the table.
