Can I use LT4 cam on my SS?

Hello,

I was planning to use aftermarket cam , but realized AFM must be disabled.
AFM is necessary for my long daily driving.
So, just wondering if I can use Lt4 stock cam instead.

Sure, you can use it but without knowing the specs it wont do you any good. Just because it is the ZL1 cam doesnt mean it will have a performance benefit for a LT1 SS engine.

Also AFM does very little at for fuel mileage, I would honestly be surprised if one owner could tell one way or the other a difference with AFM being on/off. My 2016 Sierra 6.2l has AFM, been turned off since I got the truck and it still knocks down over 20mpg on the highway.

You can but one of the big advantages of getting a new cam is the increased fuel lobe, which a stock LT4 cam won't have.

You could... in theory have a cam spec'd that is the same as stock with the increased fuel lobe though...

if your going to go through all that trouble, I would just get more of an aggressive cam such as Texas speed shop or something like that.

If you are going to go through the work of changing out the cam you might as well install a JRE custom blower cam to work with your set up and take full advantage of your blower.

AFM does not offer much in the way of fuel economy and is currently disabled in your custom tune.

Shoot me an email and I will set you up with everything you need and the FREE custom tune to go along with it.

Ted.

LT4 cam(189/223 .498/.551 120) is actually smaller then the LT1(200/207 .551/.524 116.5). so you would be downgrading due to the fact that it is smaller and no larger fuel lobe to increase fuel system headroom.

King hit the nail on the head, no reason to run the LT4 cam on a LT1 car.
