Project: "F That" stage 2
So now that I have a few (60+) hours and multiple passes under my belt with the current setup I have found a few things I am looking to do to the car up grade wise. Those up grades include
AEM dual nozzle meth kit 4 inch pulley IAT and Baro sensor breakout Custom full aluminum charge pipes I am making the changes listed because I am in the search for a little more power and mostly lower IATs. My current setup includes the stock Steel pipes and feel even though the IATs are pretty low currently I can reduce them even further by fabricating new pipes out of aluminum. So I ordered up some new pieces from summit racing and will get on the fabrication tomorrow morning. (best way to spend a birthday). As always if you have any tips or lessons learned please share them. |

Looks good, why the AEM over Alky Control?

Curious to see the results with the piping, do you plan on coating the piping at all?

I choose the AEM as I have many of their products: Wideband (2), Boost gauge, sensors, and even their cold air intake (when I was a poor import guy). I have never had a problem with their products. Also I like the simplicity of their meth controller and the design of their nozzles. I have no experience with Alky systems but had a less that favorable experience with them when I called to get some info about their system.

I think that initially I will leave the piping bare aluminum for data collection. But who knows? If I decide to take the car apart again for stage 19 build I may get the entire exhaust coated, might as well do the intake.

Don't forget to the those pipes bead rolled. It would suck if a coupler slipped off while you're gettin' it.

I know a guy who does powder coating if you're interested. He has offered to let me spray things as long as I provide the paint and pay for the electricity. He probably wouldn't have a problem letting you do it while we shoot the shit. If you wanted him to do it then I could get a quote for you too. Pensacola probably has plenty of people that powder coat though.

So it has been a while. So far I have installed and tuned the AEM meth system and the Baro breakout. They work great together. When driving out of boost iat's are 20-30 over ambient then when into boost the meth system comes on and the iats drop to ambient to a little below. Which is usualy 50-60 degrees lower than where they would be without the meth. So that system is working great.

This week I was a little bored so i made a trip to my local Harbor freight. Came across their new Vulcan line of welders. So a Vulcan Tig 200 made its way home with me. I intial reaction was they look "nice" and the features are "abundant". I am by no means a professional welder. This is the first thing that i have tig welded in aluminum. Learned a lot very fast.
