I appreciate this post.

I'm very specific about what shoes I wear whether it be on the track or for street. Outside of more expensive driving shoes already recommended here, i've actually found a thin soled pair of sketchers for regular driving. I wouldn't say they're the most protective shoes but they allow me to feel the pedal without the bulk. The cloth is breathable and thin thus allowing my foot to flex. The sole doesn't last long if you wear it on the street but at $50 I have a few pair and keep one specific to the car and one for everywhere else.

The take home here is any shoe that has a thin sole and allows you to feel the road and suspension through the pedal that doesn't have restrictive leather or cloth surrounding the foot is fine.

this is probably the same reason a lot of other people can't do burnouts either. heels @ wedges getting in the way.

Would you mind sharing the model name of this Sketchers shoe?

For both walking around and driving, I got a pair of these New Balance Foam Arishi "running" shoes. The soles look thick/tall in this pic, but most of what you're seeing is where it wraps up on the edges. They are actually very light, with thin and flexible soles that give great feel on the pedals and good comfort. I'm not sure they're actually great for running, but they'd be good for working at a job where you're on your feet all day. I don't have special driving shoes: these are my autocross and track shoes, as well as my casual walking-around shoes.

I also have a pair of dedicated training shoes that I use at the gym. They are very stiff and have lots of support, so they're great for weight training and other active things like that. But they are terrible for driving: very little feel for the pedals at all.

New Balance and Sketchers Factory Outlet stores are right up the street . Either brand is fine. , Trying to work the clutch in a size 15 shoe really didn't matter on the brand as much as it did installing Weathertech floor mats and not having to deal with the left shoe catching the side of the rug trim rubber while working the clutch pedal.
Was used to the "workspace" on my Gen 5 2014. A little tighter area on the Gen 6 2021 .

I've been looking at those myself. They certainly don't look like the old Pilotis. They look more upscale. But they are also more expensive. They do look more comfortable too though.

Anything Saucony. They fit pretty tight not taking up too much extra space.

Honestly - Tiger Mexico 66 shoes are the best (at least from my experience). You get plenty of feel and comfort in tandem.

Driving shoes? Lol. I wear Hokas or Brooks, I have a $600 pair of Whites boots I’m fond of. Ariat, whatever my feet have on them when I decide to go for a drive.

Puma classic or speedcat shoes are my go to for spirited or track driving. At least with the auto rev-match I can wear boots for work without worrying about messing up heel-toe downshifts.
