An inexpensive could perhaps be said to have "supercar-level performance" but it'll never be a supercar.

The absolute performance of a supercar varies but there's always 2 things true:

1) It represents the pinnacle of performance.
2) It's rare and exclusive.

Cars like the BMW M1 and the Porsche 918 have vastly different performance capabilities but they're both supercars because they both defined the very outer limits of performance in their eras.

No Corvette will ever be called a supercar because they're made in large numbers. That goes doubly for any Camaro.

i wouldn't go quite that far, but i do believe Porsche for example are about 30% just for the name.

Exactly. But fortunately for us, this car is manufactured by the same company that gave us the beloved Metro. A clear win for all of us not in the $250K new car market.

Look at the viper acr.... is it a super car? nope, categorized into some other class. the z06 has a 0-60 in under 3secs.... that is in "superbike" times.... still not a "supercar"

It will not have the 'exotic' appeal to it, but it will definitely give a 'big boy' vibe, and run with the high performance category vehicles. It will give everybody a fight for their money.

I personally don't care for 'exoticness' in vehicles anymore. I used to as a child, by my taste in vehicles has changed. I did enjoy the F430, 599, Diablo, LP640 era in the past, after that I didn't like direction exotics took. Lean towards Muscle and GT car's only now, such as a sporty Mercedes, Porsche GT3, Bentley, Lexus, Corvette, Nissan, ATS/CTS-V, BMW M4, Masareti, etc.....
